On Monday, June 23rd, 2014 CAP21 will celebrate its 21st birthday with an epic celebration-The 21st Birthday Bash-at its home at 18 W. 18th Street, 5th and 6th Floors, New York, NY. The event will begin at 7pm with a cocktail hour in the CAP21 Theatre lobby on the 5th floor and will include wine and light hors d'oeuvres. A birthday party concert will begin at 7:30pm in the CAP21 Theatre on the 5th floor, featuring highlights from past CAP21 Theatre Company productions and prominent CAP21 alumni sharing favorite musical moments from their student days. An After-Party Celebration will follow the concert.
Two additional performances of ONE WOMAN SHOW have been added to Shakina's limited engagement at Sophie's, New York's newest midtown cabaret venue. Extending the sold-out run, new shows have been added May 1st at 10:30pm and May 2nd at 11pm.

The award winning CAP21 Theatre Company will kick off its 2014 season on February 4th with the new musical by Jonathan Larson Award winning writers Dan Collins (book) and Julianne Wick Davis (music and lyrics). The story was conceived in collaboration by Julianne Wick Davis, Sally Wilfert & Michael Winther. The production will be directed by Eric Hoff with musical direction by Charity Wicks and will star Broadway veterans Sally Wilfert (Broadway: Disney's King David, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Assassins; Off-Broadway: See Rock City and Make Me a Song), and Michael Winther (Broadway: 33 Variations, Mamma Mia!, 1776, Damn Yankees; Drama Desk nomination: Songs From An Unmade Bed).

On December 7th Shakina Nayfack will present her debut performance of ONE WOMAN SHOW: A Work in Progress, a solo act tracing thirty-three eccentric years in a male body, featuring new takes on showtune standards and new songs by composers Joe Iconis, Julianne Wick Davis, Sam Salmond, and Nikko Benson. This funny, scandalous, and moving evening provides a new window into the modern transgender experience, and will also help raise money for Shakina's transition. The benefit show, (also a birthday party), celebrates the launch of Shakina's 'KickStartHer' campaign to raise money for her gender confirmation surgery.
Applications are now being accepted for the January 2014 installment of the triannual CAP21 Writers Residency , focusing on new musicals. The CAP21 Writers Residency is offered by CAP21 as an opportunity for a concentrated time and place to be artistically productive in a focused atmosphere while remaining in NYC . It will take place for a 12 week period ( Jan 6th 17 ) depending on the needs of the writers. During the length of the residency, selected writing teams are provided a beautiful studio space at CAP21 in New York City , complete with a piano and wireless internet , between the hours of 10am and 6pm , Monday through Friday .
