Shakina's ONE WOMAN SHOW Extends Through 5/2 at Sophie's

Two additional performances of ONE WOMAN SHOW have been added to Shakina's limited engagement at Sophie's, New York's newest midtown cabaret venue. Extending the sold-out run, new shows have been added May 1st at 10:30pm and May 2nd at 11pm.

A story of surviving the 90s and creating a new life in a new millennium, ONE WOMAN SHOW recounts the exploits and misadventures that led to Shakina's gender transition. Featuring original songs by Joe Iconis (THE BLACK SUITS, BLOODSONG OF LOVE), Julianne Wick Davis (SOUTHERN COMFORT), Sam Salmond, Joel Waggoner, and Nikko Benson. Jeremy Robin Lyons music directs, with Mike Rosengarten (guitar), Joseph Wallace (bass),and Jeff Roberts (drums) in the band.

ONE WOMAN SHOW plays Sophie's (318 West 53rd Street between 8th and 9th avenues on May 1st at 10:30pm, May 2nd at 11pm. There is a $15 cover charge and a two-drink minimum. Tickets are available at http://Shakina.BrownPaperTickets.com.

Shakina Nayfack is a transgender performer and director. Her high profile gender confirmation campaign "KickStartHer" has been seen in the Daily News, Gothamist, Logo's New Now Next blog, VICE magazine, and onHuffington Post Live. She recently launched Musical Theatre Factory (MTF), an NYC-based cooperative dedicated to helping artists develop and present new work. Currently in development: JUNK: A Rock Opera (with the Swedish pop band Brainpool), THE DISAPPEARING MAN (a folk opera by Jahn Sood), and THE CRAFT - the Musical (an adaptation of the 90s teen-witch classic).
