Jim Nue's THE FLOATONES Set for 20th Anniversary Revival at La MaMa, Now thru 5/10

They form a vocal quartet on the cutting edge of a new fusion between entertainment and self-help. Their night club act shares their group insights in speech and song, interweaving their individual stories, creating a post-Chorus Line. 'The Floatones' debuted in 1995 and will be revived by La MaMa E.T.C. on the play's 20th anniversary, today, May 1 to 10, 2015 co-directed by Catherine Galasso and Keith McDermott. EMILY CLIMBS (MACHINE MECHANT) Begins Tonight at The Brick

Emily Climbs (Machine Mechant) imagines a future looking back on a past that is still in our future. Through a collection of performed materials (an amateur stand up routine, excerpts from a one-woman show, interview transcripts, found documents, role playing scenes, and more)the show explores person-hood of Emily Climbs: a failed science-experiment, a devoted companion, a benign provocateur, a socialized woman struggling with the burden of individualism and the American Dream.

Zoe Geltman's THE LONELIEST WHALE IN THE WORLD to Premiere at Dream Up Festival, Begin. 8/28

The Loneliest Whale in the World, written by Zoe Geltman and directed by Julia May Jonas, will be performed at the Community Space Theater at Theater for the New City as part of the 2013 Dream Up Festival, from August 28 - September 7. The Loneliest Whale...is a play about a sad whale who has decided to end its own life, and two self-destructive loners who risk allowing their hideous kinks to swallow themselves up. As all three alternately fight and give into the shameful morbid pleasure of obsession and complacency, this performance invites the question: can we ever really fix our broken parts?
