Victory Gardens Theater, home to the bold voices of world premiere theater, today announces the appointment of its new Artistic Director, Chay Yew.

Direct Arts is pleased to announce that its 3rd annual benefit, The Direct Arts World's Fair, will take place on Tuesday, May 17 at Causey Contemporary at 92 Wythe Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center announced today eight plays to be developed at the 2011 National Playwrights Conference (NPC) under the leadership of Artistic Director Wendy C. Goldberg. The selected playwrights will spend the month of July at the O'Neill's campus developing and presenting staged readings of their work during the NPC's 47th season. East West Players, the nation's premier Asian American theatre organization, is pleased to announce Face of the Future, a playwriting competition with cash prizes awarded to the top three plays, including $5,000 for the first place winner, $2,500 for second place, and $1,000 for third place.

The 2011 Garland Award recipients were announced today, honoring the best of Los Angeles theatre. Under the voting system each Garland winner was named on at least three critics' 'Best of 2010' lists. Each critic listed up to five nominees for each category except performance, up to 10 nominees for performance in musical productions and 10 for straight plays. Here are the critics' lists, minus the winners. The Susan Smith Blackburn Prize has announced Katori Hall as the winner of its prestigious playwriting award, now celebrating its thirty-third year. The Houston-based Prize received the 2010 Theatre Communications Group's National Funder Award. The annual honor goes to a company, foundation or other entity for 'leadership and sustained national support of theater in America.
