Playing On Air announced today the names of the three celebrity guests joining sponsor Josie Merck on the jury for their inaugural James Stevenson Prize, which will award three monetary prizes for new short comedic plays that honor and perpetuate the spirit and wit of Mr. Stevenson.

A collective of perspectives. A public outcry. The establishment of a movement. This month, two new plays- Until the Flood by Dael Orlandersmith, directed by Neel Keller and florissant & canfield by Kristiana Rae Colon, directed by Derrick Sanders-bring a national dialogue to the stage.

Los Angeles theatre collective, Artists at Play, will develop and showcase two new works by Asian American playwrights, Chloe Hung and Nicholas Pilapil. The spring new play reading series, in its sixth year, is open to the public to attend on Saturday, April 28, at Company of Angels.

Aubergine, by American playwright and television writer of Korean descent, Julia Cho, is a didactic play, heavy on pathos, but not without humor, that finds its origins in Cho's own life, specifically, the death of her father. Similarly in this play, protagonist Ray, played by Tony Nam, cares for his dying father (Glenn Kubota) at home, with the help of nurse Lucien (Jefferson A. Russell), girlfriend Cornelia (Eunice Bae) and his Uncle (Song Kim).

San Diego Repertory Theatre announced today its Season 43, described as by Artistic Director Sam Woodhouse as "eloquent, personal and brave." Next season is one of the most critically acclaimed lineup of plays that the REP has produced in many years. The REP proudly celebrates the work of female theatre artists, and four of the productions are by award-winning female playwrights. Since this is the REP, the audience can expect the important questions and issues of our time to be on stage, upfront and deeply personal. There is also the cultural exploration of love and loss and the return of actor/musician Hershey Felder, the best-selling artist in San Diego REP history, in a spellbinding performance of Beethoven!

The reviews are in for Berkeley Rep's OFFICE HOUR, written by Julia Cho, and directed by Lisa Peterson. OFFICE HOUR opened on February 22nd, and will run through March 25th.

City Theatre Company, Pittsburgh's home for new plays, has announced the details of the theatre's 44th season of new works. Jeanne Sakata's one-man drama Hold These Truths tells the true story of Gordon Hirabayashi, the American son of Japanese immigrants who defied an unjust court order when America placed its own citizens in internment camps during World War II. Midway through Arena Stage's 2017/18 season, Hold These Truths brings an untold story to the stage that represents the diversity of our country and examines what it means to be an American. Under the direction of Jessica Kubzansky, Hold These Truths runs February 23-April 8, 2018 in the Kogod Cradle.
