Broadway recently lost one of its brightest in Roger Rees, the astonishing actor who landed on our shores at the beginning of the '80s with THE LIFE AND ADVENTURES OF NICHOLAS NICKELBY.

As an added production for the 2015 season, Rivertown Theaters for the Performing Arts is proud to present one of Broadway's most beloved musical tales, 'Peter Pan,' performed by adults on the Main Stage July 16 - 26, directed by Kelly Fouchi.

No one tried to plug their cell phones into an outlet on the stage last night at Idina Menzel's World Tour concert. Maybe that's because it wasn't a Broadway house, but a concert venue in New Jersey's suburbs. But, some might think it was Broadway based on the set list for her solo show at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel Sunday night.  

Professional writer, playwright and lyricist, Stephen B. Crowley has shared astounding footage of the original 1959 production of GYPSY in rehearsal.

CLO's production of the classic musical has star power and a spectacular score, but could use a little energy.

While it seems that some musicals are constantly produced and have been seen by every theatergoer alive, others seem more elusive. For example, there's no good explanation for why so many people have mentioned recently that they've never seen the musical Gypsy. 'Oh, I know the songs,' they all say. Immediately followed by, 'But I've never seen the actual show.' If you are among that number, Ocean State Theatre Company has just what you need, a nearly perfect production of this classic and beloved musical. And if you are not one of those people, and you have seen the show before, you should definitely take this opportunity to see it again.

?Pauletta Washington returns to Toronto after her sold out concert last fall, with a new show Chronicle. Joined by her band Mamazband, Washington will be performing two nights at the Randolph Theatre (736 Bathurst St.) Sept. 13 and Sept. 14 at 7 p.m.   

It's a great year to be named Kelli/Kelley. At this year's Tonys ceremony, Broadway leading lady Kelli O'Hara won her long-awaited Tony Award, and almost exaclty a month later, U.S. Soccer player Kelley O'Hara will compete in the World Cup finals today, July 5.

The Nevada Conservatory Theatre (NCT) will present the new musical "ACE" in a fully-staged concert setting for two performances only on Saturday and Sunday, August 22 and 23, 2015 at 1 p.m. in the Judy Bayley Theatre.  This special concert presentation is a benefit for the NCT with all proceeds going to help fund the ongoing work of the prestigious cultural institution.

The Harbor Lights Theater Company (Harbor Lights), Staten Island's only professional Equity Theater Company, led by Founders and Artistic Directors Tamara Jenkins and Jay Montgomery, is pleased to announce a cast that includes not only Broadway veterans and Tony and Emmy nominees, but also many Staten Islanders.

As BroadwayWorld reported last week, Sheridan Smith has been in negotiations to star as 'Fanny Brice' in FUNNY GIRL at the Menier Chocolate Factory, directed by Michael Mayer. An official announcement has not been made, and according to the Daily Mail, the team is still working out if the show might transfer after its run in Southwark. Baz Bamigboye writes that the production could be heading to the West End, or even New York in the future.

?The Australian cast of Cameron Mackintosh's acclaimed new production of Les Miserables will perform a charity concert raising money in support of beyondblue on Sunday August 23rd at 8.00 pm at the Capitol Theatre, Sydney. Tickets go on sale on Thursday 25th June via Ticketmaster.

Sabato 30 maggio si e concluso l'anno accademico della SDM - la Scuola Italiana del Musical con la messa in scena dello spettacolo 'FUNNY GIRL', per la prima volta in Italia, totalmente in lingua italiana grazie alla traduzione di Alice Mistroni. Puo sembrare una scelta azzardata da parte di un'accademia mettere in scena uno spettacolo di tale livello e fama, portato al successo grazie al film del 1968 che ha visto nel ruolo di Fanny Brice una spettacolare ed indimenticabile Barbra Streisand. E forse lo e stata, una scelta azzardata: per quanto impegno e tempo si sia speso, rimane comunque un saggio di fine anno e sicuramente una compagnia teatrale professionista avrebbe reso piu onore (avrebbe certamente avuto piu mezzi per farlo) ad questo spettacolo sacro della storia di Broadway. Ma personalmente apprezzo il rischio, mille volte 'Funny Girl' piuttosto dei soliti 'Cats' e 'Grease'.
