Judy Kuhn, known on Broadway for her role in Chess and Les Misérables (and by 90s Disney fans as the singing voice of the animated Pocahontas), is performing a week-long cabaret run at the Hippodrome Casino's Matcham Room

Happy Birthday Marin Mazzie! Marin most recently starred in the off-Broadway revival of Carrie. Before that she led the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, Next to Normal and in the Broadway production of Enron. She received Tony and Drama Desk nominations and an Outer Critics Circle Award for her performance as Lilli/Katharine in the hit revival of Kiss Me, Kate, and later received an Olivier Award nomination when she made her West End debut in the show. Other Broadway credits include: Monty Python's Spamalot (also West End), Ragtime (Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics nominations), Passion (Tony nomination), Man of La Mancha, Into the Woods, Big River, and Out of this World and Kismet (Encores!).

Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Greg Reiner, has announced that their upcoming production of Anton Chekhov's IVANOV, starring Ethan Hawke, Joely Richardson and Juliet Rylance, which begins performances Wednesday, October 17 at CSC (136 East 13th Street), has extended its run by popular demand through Sunday, December 9.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Patrick Willingham) announced today that FUN HOME, a new musical with music by Jeanine Tesori and book and lyrics by Lisa Kron, will open the 2012-2013 season of the Public Lab, a program designed to connect audiences and artists in the process of creating new theater. Directed by Sam Gold, FUN HOME is based on the graphic novel by Alison Bechdel and will run Wednesday, October 17 through Sunday, November 4 in The Public's Shiva Theater. Member tickets are $12 and are on sale now. Single tickets, priced at $15, go on sale Tuesday, September 18.

Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Greg Reiner, has announced that acclaimed stage, screen and television actress Joely Richardson (bio below) has joined the cast of their upcoming production of Anton Chekhov's IVANOV, starring Ethan Hawke and directed by Austin Pendleton, which begins performances Wednesday, October 17 at CSC (136 East 13th Street) as the first show of the award-winning company's 45th Anniversary Season. Hawke, in the title role, and Richardson, who will play Anna, will be joined in IVANOV by Glenn Fitzgerald (Borkin), Roberta Maxwell (Zinaida), George Morfogen (Shabelsky), Juliet Rylance (Sasha), Jonathan Marc Sherman (Lvov) and Louis Zorich (Lebedev). IVANOV, which will have its official opening on Sunday, November 4, will play a limited engagement through Sunday, November 25. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Thursday, September 20.

Tonight, August 27 at 8:00PM, Mr. Dixon will be performing original compositions as well narrate behind-the-scenes stories from his recent memoir Secrets of A Life On Stage…And Off. Copies of the book will be available to purchase, and a book-signing will take place following the performance, which will take place in Signature's intimate ARK Theatre.

Yee-haw! It's time to start two-steppin' and boot-scootin' in the aisles, as Signature Theatre kicks off its 2012/13 season with the Tony Award-winning musical comedy The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, beginning performances tonight, August 14.

Commencing this summer, Northern Virginia's Tony Award®-winning Signature Theatre will be the new home to the emerging No Rules Theater Company (NRTC) through 2015. The partnership between the two companies will provide NRTC with use of the Theatre's facilities, including office and rehearsal space. NRTC's 2012/13 season, the company's 4th, will be presented in Signature's 115-seat ARK Theatre. Brian Sutow and Joshua Morgan, the company's Co-Artistic Directors, have today announced their upcoming season, which includes Black Comedy from award-winning playwright Peter Shaffer, the world premiere of The Personal(s), and the anything-goes revue, The No Rules Show. Sundance Institute today announced the acting company and creative advisors for the eight projects being developed at its 2012 Theatre Lab, July 9-29 at the Sundance Resort. Under the supervision of Philip Himberg, Producing Artistic Director, and Associate Director Christopher Hibma, the Lab is the centerpiece of the Theatre Program's year-round work and is designed to support emerging and established artists and to create a place where their original work can be effectively mentored and challenged.
