The National Theatre has announced its May-September 2018 season.

New casting announced for the new National Theatre season. Full cast has been announced for Brian Friel's Translations including Colin Morgan and Ciaran Hinds, part of the Travelex season with thousands of tickets available at £15. Eric Kofi Abrefa and Thalissa Teixeira join Vanessa Kirby in the cast of Julie, part of the Travelex season with thousands of tickets available at £15. Sam Mendes directs The Lehman Trilogy, a co-production with Neal Street Productions, cast includes Adam Godley, Ben Miles and Simon Russell Beale. Full casting is announced for the award winning An Octoroon by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, transferring to the National Theatre in a co-production with the Orange Tree Theatre. The NT will tour to 30 venues in 27 towns and cities across the UK and Ireland, for a total of 83 playing weeks over the next year. Rufus Norris' Macbeth to tour to 18 venues across the UK and Ireland from autumn 2018. War Horse returns to the National Theatre marking the centenary of Armistice Day.

'I must look close enough to discover what it is'. Uttered by one of the characters in Knives in Hens, the same could be said of the play itself. Obscuring and drawn out at points, an impressive cast and some illuminating lighting shine through, rediscovering this classic in the Donmar Warehouse's revival.

The Donmar Warehouse announces today two new plays for the 2017 autumn period.  Internationally-acclaimed theatre artist, Yael Farber, makes her Donmar debut directing David Harrower's haunting Knives in Hens with full casting that includes Christian Cook, Judith Roddy and Matt Ryan.  This will be the play's first major London revival since its premiere in 1995, when it instantly established Harrower as one of the UK's leading playwrights. 

Final performances of the Young Chekhov trilogy begin this autumn in the Olivier Theatre, and The Plough and the Stars is wrapping up at the Lyttelton. In addition, previews begin in the Lyttelton for The Red Barn on 6 October (press night on 17 October), and Amadeus starts previewing in the Olivier from 19 October, (press night on 26 October).

Easter Rising: Voice of a Rebel, a BBC Learning virtual reality (VR) experience, is available for the public in a free installation at the National Theatre's Lyttelton Lounge from today. Available until Saturday 22 October, the experience - jointly created by BBC Learning, Crossover Labs and VRTOV, two pioneering companies in the field of VR - is watched using an Oculus Rift headset.

Abrons Arts Center is pleased to present the U.S. premiere of The Seagull and Other Birds by celebrated Irish theater company Pan Pan. The production, running March 23-April 2, is a roller coaster reimagining of Anton Chekhov's much-loved comic masterpiece. 

Signature Theatre and Field Day's by Sam Shepard, directed by Nancy Meckler, begins its final two weeks of performances and will play through Sunday, January 4, 2015 only. The production opened to critical acclaim on Sunday, November 23 in The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues).

Signature Theatre (James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director; Erika Mallin, Executive Director) and Field Day (Stephen Rea and Seamus Deane, Directors) just announced casting is confirmed for the U.S. Premiere of A PARTICLE OF DREAD (OEDIPUS VARIATIONS) by Sam Shepard, directed by Nancy Meckler. New York University's Skirball Center for the Performing Arts will present the U.S. premiere of The Rehearsal, Playing the Dane, Dublin-based theater company Pan Pan Theatre's innovative and visually arresting take on William Shakespeare's Hamlet. This presentation is part of Imagine Ireland, Culture Ireland's year of Irish arts in America.
