Formerly a project of the Ontological-Hysteric Theater, the Incubator Arts Project supports independent, experimental performing artists through a series of programs aimed at offering production opportunities and guidance with long-term growth and artistic sustainability. The president and CEO of the All Stars Project, Gabrielle L. Kurlander, announced the appointment of Dan Friedman, Ph.D. as the artistic director of the Castillo Theatre on Sunday, April 4. Friedman was preceded in this position by Fred Newman, who held it from 1989 through 2005, when he retired; Newman remains artistic director emeritus.

The New York Innovative Theatre Foundation, the organization dedicated to celebrating Off-Off-Broadway, is pleased to announce that Ben Hodges (editor, Theater World) and Abby Marcus (managing director, Vampire Cowboys) are the new co-chairs of the Honorary Award committee, filling the vacancy left by Leonard Jacobs (Clyde Fitch Report). The Innovative Theatre Foundation recognizes and appreciates the five years of service and dedication by Mr. Jacobs.

I began my acting career working for two of the most remarkable people in the American theatre: husband and wife team Julian Beck and Judith Malina, co-founders of The Living Theatre. The Becks, as they were affectionately known, were radical Jewish intellectual artists and pacifists deeply committed to peace and social justice through non-violent political activism and The Living Theatre was a clear reflection of their ideals for which they paid dearly with frequent arrests, incarcerations and fines...

Acclaimed actors Martin Sheen and Olympia Dukakis, legendary rock musician Ray Manzarek of The Doors, and poets Michael McClure and Anne Waldman joined Judith Malina and other artists for a one-night-only gala to benefit The Living Theatre on Friday, December 18, beginning with cocktails and dinner at 6pm, followed by a program of music and performance at The Players Club in Manhattan.

Levin, Commissioner of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, proclaiming October 15th 'Free Night of Theater Day', special musical guests, celebrities, & booths, a 'Fame' flash mob with over 50 dancers, children's theater, NYC's top sleight of hand artists, con men & mentalists, make up artists, clowns of all shapes & sizes, the Ice Capades on roller skates, a dog in space and a fashion show extravaganza with famous costumes from TDF's special collection MCed by Joey Arias!

Forty-one years after The Living Theatre's now legendary performance of Paradise Now at Yale Repertory Theatre in September 1968, which ended in the arrest of ten performers and audience members for public indecency, co-founder and Artistic Director Judith Malina returns to New Haven for a two-day residency at Yale School of Drama, September 14-15.
