NY Madness Announces The Fascist Playbook Madness

The theme for the May edition of New York Madness is 'The Fascist Playbook' Madness. The show will take place on Sunday, June 24th at 8pm at The Kraine Theater (85 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery). Cheryl Paley is co-producing the June edition of New York Madness and chose this month's theme.

NY Madness Announces 'Who Holds The Leash?' Madness With Guest Company Ego Actus

The theme for the May edition of New York Madness is 'Who Holds the Leash?' Madness. The plays will explore the idea of who has power in our culture and what they are willing to do it keep it. The show will take place on Sunday, May 27 at 8pm at The Kraine Theater (85 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery). The lineup will include Gina Femia (Annie and the Fat Man, We Are a Masterpiece), Michael Hagins (Hit and Match, Michael is Black), Julienne Hairston (Fire This Time Festival, Born on Freedom's Road), Bruce A! Kraemer (what do you mean, Identity Paper), Judith Leora (Showpony, Elijah), Edmond Malin (1MPF, FringeNYC), Bara Swain (Critical Care, numerous plays in Best Ten Minute Plays)) and Richard Vertere (Lady Macbeth and Her Lover, One Shot, One Kill).

Allen II (Won the 2010 Sam French Festival for The Mud is Thicker in Mississippi; Recipient of Atlantic Theater Company's inaugural 2014-15 Launch Commission), Maggie Bofill (Drawn and Quartered at INTAR, NY Times Critics Pick; Winners at EST, 2015), Nat Cassidy (2009 NYIT Award forThe Reckoning of Kit & Little Boots; 2011 NYIT Award for Outstanding Solo Performance), Shaun B. Lone Star Theatre Co. to Present Staged Reading of Judith Leora's SHOWPONY

Judith Leora's SHOWPONY will receive it's first staged reading tonight for Lone Star Theatre Co as part of their on-going Texas Reads series. When a diverse group of women are randomly thrown together, they quickly realize that their cultural training has put them directly in opposition to each other, whether as workhorses, show-ponies or race-horses. Will they figure out how to get past their assigned roles and see each other as people?

Taking the gender parity problem head-on New York Madness is bringing to the stage a Special All-Women writers and directors edition of their short play festival, a mainstay of NYC's Indie Theater Community. NYMadness has produced at HERE Theater, Cherry Lane Theatre, Ensemble Studios Theatre, INTAR Theater, ESPA Primary Stages and many more across the city. Since inception six years ago NYMadness has been a leader on gender parity maintaining a 50/50 even split men/women on their roster. With a focus on emerging artists, NYM hosts a hot night of short plays all based on a Theme announced one week prior to the event. The Theme for this special edition is appropriately dubbed, SMASHING THE PATRIARCHY Madness.
