Rehearsals kicked off this week at the Alliance Theatre for its upcoming production of Robert Harling's STEEL MAGNOLIAS. The quintessential story of family and friendship, this moving Southern classic tells the story of six complex women sharing life's ups and downs in the safe-haven created in a home beauty salon.

The producers of the North American tour of Noel Coward's smash-hit comedic play, BLITHE SPIRIT announced today that Simon Jones ("Hitchhiker's Guide, The Real Thing) will return to the role of Dr Bradman, which he performed during the sold-out engagements on Broadway and London's West End.

Second Stage Theatre's 35th Anniversary Gala celebration just honored Carole Rothman, Artistic Director of Second StageTheatre, for her 35 years of supporting new works and artistic development in New York City theatre. This year's rock n' roll themed gala was attended by over 250 Second Stage Alumni who have worked at Second Stage Theatre during the past 35 years, from Brooke Adams and Polly Draper who appeared in the very first season, to cast members from the currently running The Substance of Fire and the upcoming American Hero which will make its New York premiere this summer at Second Stage Uptown. The so-called extracurricular activities, which give actors a rich environment in which to broaden creatively and even experiment, include free industry panels and talks, and low-cost workshops called Today Specials. Most of these add-ons are led by notable theatre artists, are either free or low-cost, and are open to the public.
