Playwright Sarah Ruhl & More Set for Mad. Sq. Reads 2014 Free Literary Series

Madison Square Park Conservancy and NeueHouse are pleased to announce the seventh season of Mad. Sq. Reads, a free literary series held on the steps of Augustus Saint-Gaudens' Farragut Monument in the Northern end of Madison Square Park. Co-curated by NeueHouse, the events will take place over four Thursday evenings beginning September 4th. The program will feature discussions from a diverse mix of exciting authors including novelist Valeria Luiselli, playwright Sarah Ruhl, and journalist Sean Wilsey with restaurateur Danny Meyer, with more participants to be announced.

Yale Drama Teacher Bill Connington Publishes New Book About the Alexander Technique

Newly appointed Yale School of Drama “Lecturer in Acting” Bill Connington publishes his new book today on applying the Alexander Technique to performance. The book is entitled “Physical Expression on Stage and Screen: Creating Unforgettable Performances with the Alexander Technique.” Published today in England, it will be published in the U.S. on August 14th. Brought out by famed theatrical publisher Methuen Drama, the book promises to be invaluable to the individual performer, and has been predicted to be the “go-to book” on the Alexander Technique for performers. It will also be used as a textbook by colleges and performing arts institutions nationwide. Connington is regarded as a world-expert on the Alexander Technique in general, and applying the method to performance specifically. In addition to his recent appointment to Yale, he has taught at Juilliard, NYU, and the Actors Studio MFA Program. Don Winslow Pens Three-Part Serial, EXTREME, Exclusively For Playboy Magazine

LOS ANGELES, April 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ Critically-acclaimed novelist Don Winslow, author of such bestsellers as Savages (which was made into the 2012 Oliver Stone-directed film of the same name) and The Kings of Cool, has written a three-part serial titled Extreme exclusively for Playboy magazine. The Directors Company in association with Chase Miskin will present a musical reading of 'ELIOT NESS...' book by Peter Ullian, music and lyrics by Robert Lindsey-Nassif, original co-adaptation by Nick Corley, musical direction by Adam Souza and directed by Michael Parva today, April 8, 2014 at 3:00pm and Thursday, April 10 at 12:00pm and 3:00pm. Phoenix Theatre Ensemble to Present Tom Stoppard's DOGG'S HAMLET, CAHOOT'S MACBETH, 5/2-23

As a featured event of its Tenth Anniversary Spring Rep season, Phoenix Theatre Ensemble (www.PhoenixTheatreEnsemble.org) will present 'Dogg's Hamlet, Cahoot's Macbeth' by Tom Stoppard from May 2 to 23, 2014 at The Wild Project 195 E. 3rd Street (at Ave. B). It's an evening of two short plays in which Stoppard radically shortens 'Hamlet' and 'Macbeth' to craft a witty Shakespearean two-step on serious themes of artistic dissent. Kevin Confoy directs.

Magic Theatre to Stage World Premiere of Linda McLean's EVERY FIVE MINUTES, Beg. 3/26
