Maine State Music Theatre closes out its 2017 season with the New England Regional Premier of the all-singing, all-dancing, high-energy show, Disney's Newsies. Featuring a score by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken, Newsies runs from August 9 - 26. A matinee performance has been added on August 19 at 2 PM.

This summer, the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America, featuring 115 outstanding young musicians from across the country, comes together for its fifth year of extraordinary music making, culminating in the orchestra's first-ever tour of Latin America. NYO-USA's 2017 Latin America tour takes place from July 26 through August 4 with orchestra performances in Guadalajara, Mexico; Quito, Ecuador; and Bogota, Colombia, including side-by-side musical collaborations with fellow young musicians in all three tour countries.

Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival , one of New York's premier summer performance series, kicks off its 51st season on July 25. Among the highlights in the first two weeks are a special opening concert led by Louis Langrée, Renée and Robert Belfer Music Director, featuring traditional and indigenous songs from Mozart's time; a choral presentation by Les Arts Florissants; and guest conductors Edward Gardner and Gianandrea Noseda; festival debuts by more than 10 artists, including Kit Armstrong, Janai Brugger, Jennifer Johnson Cano, S? Percussion, Beatrice Rana, Ksenija Sidorova, and the Young People's Chorus of New York City; and the New York premiere of David Lang's concerto for percussion, man made. Houston Symphony Executive Director & CEO Mark C. Hanson Tapped to Lead San Francisco Symphony

The Houston Symphony announced today that Mark C. Hanson, its Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer, will step down from his role this summer to join the San Francisco Symphony as Executive Director. Hanson, who has been at the orchestra's helm since May 2010 and holds the Margaret Alkek Williams Executive Director/CEO Chair, will begin his new post on September 1.
WQXR Young Artists Showcase Features Brevard Music Center

At 9:00 PM tonight, Wednesday, July 5, Brevard Music Center (BMC) begins a new collaboration with New York City's WQXR and its longstanding and distinguished Young Artists Showcase—a WQXR weekly radio show that since 1978 has sought out and displayed the talents of young emerging artists. WQXR is New York City's only classical music radio station, broadcasting live on 105.9 FM. Part Two of BMC's appearance on Young Artists Showcase, hosted by veteran Robert Sherman, will occur next Wednesday, July 12 at 9 PM.

Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival continues its 51st season with its third week of performances, including presentations of The Dark Mirror: Zender's Winterreise directed by Netia Jones and starring tenor Ian Bostridge. The production also features members of the International Contemporary Ensemble, Mostly Mozart artists-in-residence, performing Hans Zender's orchestration of Schubert's Winterreise, conducted by Baldur Bronnimann in his Mostly Mozart debut.

The inspirational Disney's Newsies, based on the real-life Newsboys strike of 1899 and the 1992 film, was the toast of Broadway for more than two years.
