More than four million dogs enter shelters each year - and the PEDIGREE Brand is dedicated to helping change the lives of shelter dogs in a big way. To show their support, today PEDIGREE announced plans to improve shelters across the country through a shelter renovation project. This project is a continuation of the documentary-style See what good food can do campaign that launched in earlier this year to show first-hand how good food can change the lives of shelter dogs, like those featured in the campaign.

Director Michael Canzoniero has just completed principal shooting in 48 hours around NYC for “Making the Day,” a feature length dramedy about two actors trying to raise money for an independent film. Co-directed by Marco Ricco, Stuart Braunstein and Bennett Springsteel and produced by Nikolas Zasimczuk, “Making the Day” may be at least the first feature film with principal shooting to be shot around New York City in 48 hours. PetSmart Charities has teamed up with actor/producer Josh Duhamel and his production company, Dakotakid Media, to launch Rescue Waggin': Tales from the Road. Under the direction of Executive Producers Josh Duhamel and Jude Weng, the 8-episode web series follows homeless dogs as they travel hundreds, even thousands, of miles for a better chance of being adopted. The web series includes cameos from a cache of celebrity pet adoption advocates including Kristen Bell, Adam Shankman and Bret Michaels.

On Twitter, Julianne Hough debuted her Halloween costume, dressed in blackface as the popular ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK character, 'Crazy Eyes', played by Uzo Abuda. After an Internet uproar (really, people are still trying blackface in 2013?) she's now gone back on Twitter to apologize, writing today that 'I am a huge fan of the show Orange is the New black, actress Uzo Aduba, and the character she has created. It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize.'
