Photo Flash: Redtwist Theatre Presents THE CRIPPLE OF INISHMAAN, Opening Tonight, 5/13
by BWW News Desk - May 13, 2012

McDonagh's plays are densely packed with vicious drama, wicked humor, savage truths, and deep humanity, while Senior uses her trademark vision, and Jack Magaw's in-your-lap design, to cram McDonagh's theatrical stew into a stage the size of a minivan-with no place to hide. McDonagh's twisted family dramas were born for the intimacy of Redtwist. And after Kimberly's uniquely creative staging of The Pillowman in 2009, it's her time again. The theatre requested the performing rights two years ago, but the two-week visit by Druid Theatre at Chicago Shakespeare tied up the rights for one year prior and three months after their March, 2011, production. The request was granted last June, and the production opens tonight May 13. See photos from the show below!

BWW Reviews: JASON AND THE GOLDEN FLEECE at Nashville Children's Theatre
by Jeffrey Ellis - Feb 3, 2011

Eric D. Pasto-Crosby gives such a startlingly confident portrayal of the heroic Jason in Nashville Children's Theatre's production of John Olive's adaptation of Jason and the Golden Fleece that you cannot help but be caught up in all the stage magic created by the coterie of extraordinary artisans who make NCT such a consistent - and constant - source of inspiration.

Nashville Theatre's Top Performances of '09: The Men
by Jeffrey Ellis - Jan 1, 2010

While the women in Nashville theatre might garner more critical attention, showier roles and sparklier costumes, the men, clearly, are no slouches themselves. Capable and committed, the men who assay roles on Nashville stages are a pretty impressive collection of actors who can take on the most traditional of roles one week, while tackling parts that require them to be more experimental and brave the next. In 2009, Nashville's best actors showed their range while strutting themselves in some of the best productions we've seen in years.

Between the Lines: Coming Back Home
by Jeffrey Ellis - Aug 19, 2009

Since returning to the world of theatre via BroadwayWorld.com about a month ago, after an almost seven year absence, I've had the invaluable opportunity of reconnecting with a number of old acquaintances and renewing long-dormant friendships and relationships with people connected to the theatre scene in Nashville and throughout Tennesseee.

'Disney's Beauty and the Beast' at Nashville Dinner Theatre
by Jeffrey Ellis - Aug 16, 2009

If you ever needed any evidence that musical theatre is alive and well in Music City USA, you need look no further than Nashville Dinner Theatre's production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast, which this weekend wraps up its run at the Senior Center for the Arts. It is superbly acted, beautifully sung and confidently staged. It remains a compelling piece of theatre, as moving as any I've ever seen.
