The South Ark Stage (Rhoda Herrick, Producing Artistic Director) Off-Broadway revival of the comedy Sophistry by Jonathan Marc Sherman (Things We Want) will give its final performance on Friday evening, May 29th at 8:00 p.m. at the Samuel Beckett Theatre / Theater Row (410 West 42nd Street between 9th & 10th Avenues).
The New Group, currently represented Off-Broadway by Ian Bruce's play Groundswell, is pleased to announce its upcoming 2009-2010 season. Leading next season with previews beginning in October 2009 is the world premiere of The Starry Messenger by Kenneth Lonergan, featuring Matthew Broderick. The season continues with a major revival of A Lie of the Mind by Sam Shepard, directed by Ethan Hawke (previews begin January 2010).
The New York Times reports that Matthew Broderick, currently starring on Broadway in Roundabout's The Philanthropist and Kenneth Lonergan will collaborate for the New Group's 2009-10 season with the premiere of l'The Starry Messenger,' a play by Mr. Lonergan ('This Is Our Youth,' 'You Can Count on Me') and starring Mr. Broderick. Previews are expected to start in October according to The Times.
The Williamstown Theatre Festival (WTF) has announced casting for its 2009 Main Stage Season running from July 1 to August 23 at the '62 Center for Theatre and Dance in Williamstown, MA. George Street Playhouse has announced full casting for New Year's Eve a world premiere from the pen of ARTHUR LAURENTS. George Street Playhouse Artistic Director DAVID SAINT will direct a starry cast comprised of WALTER BELENKY, KEITH CARRADINE, PETER FRECHETTE, MARLO THOMAS and NATASHA GREGSON WAGNER. New Year's Eve marks the ninth collaboration between Saint and Laurents at the New Brunswick Playhouse, and the return engagement of Ms. Thomas, who starred in Elaine May's Roger is Dead last season.
