TAMBURLAINE, PARTS I and II Opens this Sunday at Theatre for a New Audience

Christopher Marlowe's 1587 epic Tamburlaine, Parts I and II, edited and directed by Olivier Award-winner Michael Boyd and starring John Douglas Thompson, opens Sunday, November 16, at 1:00pm at Theatre for a New Audience, Polonsky Shakespeare Center, 262 Ashland Place.

Theatre for a New Audience Presents TAMBURLAINE, PARTS I AND II, Beginning Tonight

John Douglas Thompson will lead a company of 19 actors playing 60 roles in the first major New York production since Broadway 1956 of Christopher Marlowe's 1587 epic Tamburlaine, Parts I and II, Jeffrey Horowitz, Founding Artistic Director of Theatre for a New Audience, announced. Directed and edited by Olivier Award-winner Michael Boyd, former Artistic Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company, Marlowe's two-part drama will be performed as one 3.5-hour play, plus a 30-minute intermission.

Pan Pan Theatre Brings Beckett's EMBERS to BAM Tonight

Pan Pan Theatre Company will bring EMBERS by Samuel Beckett to BAM's Harvey Theater (651 Fulton St). Directed by Gavin Quinn with sculpture by Andrew Clancy, lighting design by Aedin Cosgrove and sound design by Jimmy Eadie, the show will run tonight, September 17-20 at 7:30 p.m.

CELEBRATING PETER BROOK Series Set for Theatre for a New Audience, 9/14-10/5

Peter Brook has been creating work for theatre, opera, and film for over 50 years. During the run of The Valley of Astonishment, written and directed by Peter Brook and Marie-Helene Estienne, Theatre for a New Audience will honor Mr. Brook's achievements with Celebrating Peter Brook, a series of events designed to explore the life of his work.

Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road) plays Berenger in Eugene Ionesco's The Killer in a production that also features Kristine Nielsen, Paul Sparksand Robert Stanton. The Killer is newly translated by Michael Feingold and is directed by Darko Tresnjak (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder). Last produced Off-Broadway in 1960, The Killer is the final production of Theatre for a New Audience's inaugural season at Polonsky Shakespeare Center, 262 Ashland Place. Iceland's Vesturport Theatre and Reykjavík City Theatre's latest production, Faust: A Love Story, comes to the US as part of the BAM 30th Next Wave Festival. Faust: A Love Story is a darkly humorous, circus-inspired reimagining of the classic Faustian tale of an all-consuming desire and a second chance at life in search of love.
