Cast Announced for New Schwartz & Almond Musical IOWA at Playwrights Horizons

Playwrights Horizons has announced casting for IOWA, the world premiere of a new musical play written by Susan Smith Blackburn Prize finalist Jenny Schwartz (God's Ear, Somewhere Fun), music by Todd Almond (Stage Kiss at PH, Kansas City Choir Boy, The Tempest, On the Levee) and lyrics by Mr. Almond and Ms. Schwartz. Directed by two-time Obie Award winner Ken Rus Schmoll (Red Dog Howls, Middletown, What Once We Felt; next season's just-announced Antlia Pneumatica by Anne Washburn at PH), the musical play will be the fifth production of the theater company's 2014/2015 Season.

Syracuse Stage Shows Play Coast-to-Coast This Month

During the month of February, Syracuse Stage will have four productions appearing coast-to-coast. Here locally, In the Next Room, or the vibrator play will complete its run on February 15. Sizwe Banzi is Dead recently completed a run in Princeton, NJ and will start up in Syracuse on February 25. Other Desert Cities will start performing in Portland, OR on February 21 where it will run several weeks before moving to Syracuse Stage in April. Stage's fall production of August Wilson's The Piano Lesson had a second run in Seattle, WA that ended February 8.

Hot Ticket! Amanda Seyfried to Make Off-Broadway Debut Opposite Thomas Sadoski in Neil LaBute's THE WAY WE GET BY

It's going to be a hot ticket! Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director) has just announced that film star Amanda Seyfried (Les Miserables, Dear John, Mamma Mia!, upcoming Ted 2 and Pan) will make her off- Broadway debut opposite Thomas Sadoski (The Newsroom, Wild, upcoming in NBC's The Slap) in the upcoming world premiere production of NEIL LaBUTE's drama, THE WAY WE GET BY. Directed by Tony nominee LEIGH SILVERMAN, the production will begin previews on April 28, 2015 and officially open on May 20, 2015 at Second Stage Theatre, 305 West 43rd Street.

I'M GONNA PRAY FOR YOU SO HARD Extends Through March 1 at the Atlantic

Atlantic Theater Company is proud to announce that the world premiere production of Halley Feiffer's play I'm Gonna Pray For You So Hard, directed by Trip Cullman, has been extended an additional two weeks due to high ticket demand following opening last night to critical acclaim.

I'm Gonna Pray For You So Hard began previews on January 7 and officially opens tonight, January 20, 2015 for a limited engagement through Sunday, February 15, 2015 Off Broadway at Atlantic Stage 2 (330 West 16th Street).

Playwrights Horizons Names Adam Greenfield New Associate Artistic Director

Playwrights Horizons announced today the promotion of the theater company's Director of New Play Development Adam Greenfield to Associate Artistic Director. This is the first major change to the Artistic leadership of the acclaimed organization since Mr. Sanford was promoted from the same associate position to become Artistic Director in 1996.

OTHER DESERT CITIES to Run 3/6-4/5 at NCTC's Decker Theater

After last season's successful run of the San Francisco Premiere of Jon Robin Baitz' The Paris Letter, New Conservatory Theatre Center presents Baitz' Pulitzer Prize Finalist, Other Desert Cities, directed by Aturo Catricala. In this "witty, deeply enjoyable family drama" (The New York Times) Brooke announces to her prominent Republican parents she is about to publish a memoir on an explosive chapter in the family's history, drawing a line in the Palm Springs sand and daring them all to cross it. As Baitz brings dysfunctional family drama to blazingly witty and gripping new heights, NCTC's intimate Decker Theatre brings the passion, drama, and superbly crafted blow darts of wit closer to the audience than ever.

The new independent film TAKE CARE stars Leslie Bibb and Thomas Sadoski. Since 1998, Sadoski has been one of the most reliable performers in the New York theatre community, being seen in world premieres by Lucy Thurber, Rajiv Joseph, Neil LaBute, and and Jon Robin Baitz, amongst many others. He earned a Tony-nom for REASONS TO BE PRETTY, and Obie and Lucille Lortel Awards for the original Off-Broadway production of OTHER DESERT CITIES.
