Robin Roberts to Host ABC News Special on THE LION KING Featuring an Unreleased Scene from the New Film

Robin Roberts and ABC News will bring viewers into the heart of “The Lion King”'s timeless appeal and capture the excitement of the highly anticipated new film with the prime-time special “The Lion King: Can You Feel The Love Tonight with Robin Roberts.” Airing Tuesday, July 16 (8:00 – 9:00 p.m. EDT), on ABC, the one-hour special hosted and co-executive produced by Robin Roberts features interviews with cast and crew, special behind-the-scenes footage and the debut of an exclusive unreleased scene from the new movie. Since “The Lion King”'s 1994 debut as an animated feature film, its universal themes have resonated with audiences around the world and has a fixed place in popular culture. Director Jon Favreau brings the beloved characters to the big screen in a whole new way in the 2019 version, which opens July 19. The special is a co-production between Roberts' Rock'n Robin Productions and ABC News' Lincoln Square Productions.
THE LION KING Original Motion Picture Soundtrack to Release on July 11th

Tickets are on sale today for 'The Lion King,' the Jon Favreau-helmed feature film that brings treasured characters to the big screen in a whole new way. The film-like the original 1994 version-features unforgettable music by an award-winning team, including Oscar® and GRAMMY®-winning superstar Elton John and Oscar and GRAMMY-winning lyricist Tim Rice, who've written an uplifting new song, 'Never Too Late,' performed by John, that features an African choir and will appear in the film's end credits and also on the Walt Disney Records original motion picture soundtrack. The digital soundtrack is set for release at 8 a.m. PDT on July 11, and the physical album is now available for pre-order and set for release on July 19, the same day 'The Lion King' opens in U.S. theaters.

Disney and The Lion Recovery Fund Announce THE LION KING 'Protect the Pride' Campaign

To celebrate the release of Disney's The Lion King, the upcoming groundbreaking feature film helmed by Jon Favreau, The Walt Disney Company has launched a global conservation campaign to raise awareness of the crisis facing lions and other wildlife across Africa. The Lion King “Protect the Pride” campaign focuses on protecting and revitalizing lion populations and the habitats they need to thrive. Disney has already donated more than $1.5 million to the Wildlife Conservation Network's (WCN) Lion Recovery Fund (LRF) and its partners and will make additional grants as well as invite fans to help double the donation for a total contribution of up to $3 million. Fans may participate by taking part in celebratory experiences and purchasing special-edition products, as part of The Lion King Protect the Pride campaign.

The food-centric slate of programming includes The Chef Show, a new series from Jon Favreau and Roy Choi; new volumes of Netflix's longest-running documentary series, Chef's Table; and new episodes of Somebody Feed Phil featuring Phil Rosenthal.
