Tanglewood is announcing a new event to take place during the 2020 season.

With a nod to the past, and an eye toward the future, the Omaha Symphony announced details today of its diverse and vibrant centennial season, celebrating 100 years of music in Omaha, and a year-long swan song for Music Director Thomas Wilkins, who will retire from the position at the close of the season.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic has announced its 99th summer season at the Hollywood Bowl, showcasing a roster of world-class artists ranging from classical and pops to jazz, rock, and world music. The season features the return of legendary Bowl favorites, celebrated artists and conductors making their Bowl debuts, and the premieres of new LA Phil-commissioned works.

On February 14, The New York Pops was joined by guest artists Mandy Gonzalez, Carrie Manolakos, and Alex Newell for I'm Every Woman: Divas On Stage. The concert saluted the power of the female voice, and paid tribute to Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Barbra Streisand, Adele, and fellow icons who have transformed the world through song.

Stephen Deschenes , a research and development director at Capital Group, attorney Elizabeth (Beth) Calciano Fagan and independent film and television producer and author Dete Meserve have been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Children's Chorus (LACC), considered one of the world's preeminent children's choirs, announced Board Chair Kai Ryssdal. LACC, led by Artistic Director Fernando Malvar-Ruiz, serves 400 children ages 6 to 18 from across the Southland, providing rigorous musical training in a fun and supportive environment. The Chorus is noted for its artistic excellence, wide-ranging repertoire, exceptional professional and community collaborations and inspiring performances locally and abroad.

Tickets for the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra's 2021 performances of Star Wars: The Last Jedi in Concert will go on sale to the public on February 14 at 10 am. Attendees of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi in Concert performances February 7-9 will receive a special presale. Through a double-feature deal, concertgoers can save when purchasing tickets to multiple concerts in the Star Wars film concert series.

The New York Pops performs the iconic music of five-time Academy Award winner John Williams on Friday, March 27, 2020 at 8:00 p.m. Movie Night: The Scores of John Williams will feature music from Star Wars, Harry Potter, E.T. the Extra Terrestrial, Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, The Witches of Eastwick, and Memoirs of a Geisha.

The New York Pops' performance at Carnegie Hall was just an overwhelmingly beautiful way to experience the music of theater (and I imagine if they did a John Williams score too it would feel similar.) Having seen most of these tunes played with just a piano and sometimes with a few more instruments, this full orchestra with guest choir of at least 60 was like peering into the original imagination of Rodgers and Hammerstein...
