Spring has sprung and Bay Street Theatre is proud to announce its' star-filled summer line-up, with celebrities and productions to suit a variety of tastes. From New York City witches to a dinner party from hell, from Dames at Sea to the musical talents of Michael Feinstein and Betty Buckley on shore-the Bay Street stage promises to be aglow in summer fun.

After 23 years of guiding Totem Pole Playhouse into national prominence as a premiere professional summer theatre, Carl Schurr and Wil Love are stepping down at the end of the 2008 season. As Producing Artistic Director and Associate Artistic Director, respectively, this theatrical duo has produced, directed and acted in well over one hundred productions since assuming their current positions in 1985. Ray Ficca, long time friend of Schurr and Love and a resident company member at the Playhouse will become the artistic director in September of this year.

Lakewood Theatre Company will celebrate its 56th anniversary season. Season tickets for the 2009 season are on sale now and prices range from $140.00 - $150.00. Performances are Thursday -Saturday at 8:00 PM, Sundays at 7:00 PM and some Sunday matinees at 2:00 PM. Season tickets can be purchased at the LTC Box Office at 368 S. State Street in Lake Oswego. New Repertory Theatre announced today that Kate Warner, nationally known, award-winning director from Atlanta-based Dad's Garage Theatre Company, will be the company's new Artistic Director. 'Kate Warner is a natural leader,' said Michael McCay, Chairman of the Board of New Repertory Theatre. 'She has been very successful as an Artistic Director and is known for her programming savvy. Kate also has the vision and experience to drive the continuing growth of our theatre. Under her stewardship, Dad's Garage experienced impressive growth while remaining financially stable.'

Theatre in the Round Players (TRP) presents I AM A CAMERA by John van Druten in weekend performances February 13 through March 8. A young English novelist is living in a rooming-house in Berlin, a decadent city in the years before Hitler, trying to write a journal of his experiences. Enter Sally Bowles, a vivacious, mercurial spirit in green fingernail polish, living from gin to gin. They soon develop a friendship ? an alliance against a world slowly going mad outside their door. At times funny, at times intense, this dark drama was the basis for the musical CABARET. Matt Sciple directs a cast of seven, with David McMenomy as Christopher Isherwood and Katie Guentzel as Sally Bowles. Sets are designed by Kesa Collins, costumes by Michelle Clark, and lighting by Daniel Ellis. In a special joint promotion with Chameleon Theatre Circle, which is simultaneously performing CABARET in the new Burnsville Performing Arts Center, audience members will be able to use their ticket stubs from one show for a discount to the other. The University of Miami's Department of Theatre Arts launched its 2008-2009 Season with Cabaret, a multiple Tony Award-winning musical and a ground-breaking Broadway show that seamlessly blends together elements of music, comedy, sex and drama.

Primary Stages (Casey Childs, Executive Producer; Andrew Leynse, Artistic Director; Elliot Fox, Managing Director), in association with Martin Hummel, present the New York premiere of the new comedy, Love Child, written and performed by Daniel Jenkins (Mary Poppins, Big River) and Robert Stanton (The Coast of Utopia, All in the Timing), as an added event of the 2008-2009 season. Under the direction of Carl Forsman, performances are set to begin Sunday evening, October 12, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. and will run in repertory with A Body of Water by Lee Blessing for a limited engagement through November 19, 2008. Opening night is October 26, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.

Based on the play by John Van Druten and stories by Christopher Isherwood CABARET is set against the dark backdrop of pre-World-War-II Berlin. The action takes place in the seedy Kit Kat Klub where pimps, prostitutes and brash showgirls would rather drink, party and dance than face up to the growing menace around them. The show's score, by John Kander and Fred Ebb (who also wrote the score for Chicago,) was lauded by the N.Y. Times as one of the few Broadway scores 'with the kind of lingering power that comes from pungent musicality tied to memorable emotions.'

This February, International City Theatre is transformed into Berlin's infamous Kit Kat Club, where anything goes and fantasies come to life. Jules Aaron directs the classic musical, Cabaret, February 8 through March 9, opening ICT's 2008 season at the Long Beach Performing Arts Center. Low-priced previews begin February 5.
