NY Philharmonic Earns ASCAP Awards for Adventurous Programming

The New York Philharmonic is to be honored today with two 2009-10 ASCAP Awards for Adventurous Programming at the League of American Orchestras' Annual Meeting at its 65th National Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. The Philharmonic will receive the Award for American Programming on Foreign Tours, and a First Place Award for Programming of Contemporary Music.

Neil Jenkins Named Broward County Arts Teacher Of The Year

Broward County Cultural Division announced Neil Jenkins, music teacher, J.P. Taravella High School, as the 25th annual Broward County Arts Teacher of the Year (ATOY). A ceremony to recognize this award will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2010, 6:00 p.m., at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.

NY Philharmonic Presents Seventh Season of Summertime Classics 6/29-7/10

The New York Philharmonic will present its seventh season of Summertime Classics, with nine themed concerts, conducted and hosted by Bramwell Tovey, June 29-July 10, 2009. The first program (June 29-30), entitled 'From Russia with Love,' will offer music by great Russian composers such as Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky, and Glazunov, with the Philharmonic debut of violinist Mikhail Simonyan performing Tchiakovsky's Violin Concerto.
