RON RIFKIN, whose performance as Isaac Geldhart in the original production of The Substance of Fire earned him critical accolades as well as the Obie, Drama Desk, Lucille Lortel, and Drama-Logue awards, will step into the role for five performances only, May 20 - 23, at Second Stage Theatre. The production's current star, JOHN NOBLE, is unable to perform those performances due to an unforeseen conflict with the filming schedule for his Fox series, Sleepy Hollow. Mr. Noble is scheduled to return for the final weekend of performances, May 24 and 25.

BroadwayWorld has just learned that the Second Stage production of SUBSTANCE OF FIRE has cancelled tonight's performance due to an actor illness. All ticket patrons have been notified.

Currently celebrating its 35th Anniversary Season, Second Stage Theatre has announced complete casting and new performance dates for its upcoming production of JON ROBIN BAITZ's drama, THE SUBSTANCE OF FIRE. The company will feature HALLEY FEIFFER (2ST's suburbia, The House of Blue Leaves), DANIEL ERIC GOLD (2ST's subUrbia, Ugly Betty) CARTER HUDSON (The Whipping Man), JOHN NOBLE (TV's Fringe and Sleepy Hollow), and CHARLAYNE WOODARD (2ST's Sorrows and Rejoicings, Ain't Misbehavin').

On this week's SLEEPY HOLLOW, Abbie drives up to Ichabod's cabin and finds him outside, blowing off steam by chopping some wood. Abbie understands why he's so upset—he had a son that he never knew and will never get to meet. That's pretty heady stuff. Ichabod understandably wants some answers, which is why he has called Henry Parrish (John Noble) to his home.

On the next episode of CBS's THE GOOD WIFE, titled 'The Decision Tree,' Alicia is shocked to learn that a former client bequeathed her millions, but Lockhart/Gardner quickly contests the will on behalf of the deceased's wife.

This week's episode opens with our heroes, Abbie and Ichabod, in the stands of a baseball game. Strangely normal, right? But we have to say we're digging it. They exchange some cute banter about the point of the sport and the merits of heckling the referee. You know, All-American things like that.

FOX invites viewers to catch up or visit SLEEPY HOLLOW for the first time by watching the first five epic episodes online or on participating cable and telco providers nationwide.
