The evening will be emceed by special guest, John Morris Russell, acclaimed conductor of the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra.

The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra announced today an agreement with John Morris Russell that extends the Conductor's contract with the iconic ensemble for an additional five years starting in the 2014-15 season. Mr. Russell, who took over the Cincinnati Pops in September of 2011, will now lead the Orchestra through the 2018-19 season.

From Broadway to rock, R&B to family concerts, Music Hall will be the home for fans of all musical genres in 2013-14. Highlights of the season include three debuts from stars Michael McDonald, George Takei and Boyz II Men, as well the return of Cincinnati favorites Ann Hampton Callaway and Megan Hilty, who wowed Pops audiences in 2009 and has since nurtured a career from stage to screen as star of the hit NBC TV series Smash.
The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra announces the release of its latest album, Superheroes!, under Pops Conductor John Morris Russell. The recording marks the 92nd Pops recording in its history (adding to an abundant legacy including a Grammy-winner) and the second under Mr. Russell. Superheroes! will appear on the Orchestra's own label, Fanfare Cincinnati, and be distributed by Naxos. The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra will perform the world concert premiere of Macy's Yes, Virginiain Concert at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, at Music Hall. The family-friendly performance is developed and presented by Macy's and will feature John Morris Russell conducting the Pops along with singers and actors in a semi-staged adaptation. This will be the world premiere performance of the fully orchestrated concert version of the musical with book and lyrics by William Schermerhorn and music by Wesley Whatley. “Yes, Virginia The Musical” was created by Macy's in 2012 as part of its annual holiday Believe campaign.

Mr. Langrée will take up the baton at historic Music Hall for six of 20 thrilling subscription concert weekends for the 118 year-old Orchestra. The season lineup honors the CSO's rich traditions of presenting classic orchestral repertoire and exploring new musical territory. The Toronto Symphony has an exciting 2012-2013 season lined up, with something very special for BWW readers - the addition of New York Pops music director Steven Reineke as the first ever Principal Pops Conductor at the TSO.
