RED Leads May's Top 10 New London Shows

London is never short of temptations, whether splashy West End shows, epic dramas or bold fringe offerings. From meaty revivals to the open-air theatres opening their doors, here are some of this month's most eye-catching openings. BWW Interview: Alfred Molina and Alfred Enoch Talk RED

Alfred Molina is reprising his role as Mark Rothko in John Logan's play Red, teaming up once again with director Michael Grandage for the first London revival (and West End premiere). He's joined by How To Get Away With Murder star Alfred Enoch.

Dallas Opera Announces Cast Change for DON GIOVANNI

The Dallas Opera is pleased to announce that American baritone Craig Verm will perform the role of Don Giovanni in the three remaining performances of a critically acclaimed production from Lyric Opera of Chicago.  The Charron and Peter Denker Rising Star was originally cast as Masetto in this star-studded international cast. 

Michael Grandage Introduces His Revival Of RED At Wyndham's Theatre

Director Michael Grandage is reviving Red by John Logan, it opens at the Wyndham Theatre on the 15th of May and it sees Alfred Molina reprising his role as Mark Rothko and How To Get Away With Murder star Alfred Enoch as his assistant Ken. We were recently invited to snoop around the rehearsal room while Grandage disclosed his relationship with the show and why it's crucial to bring it to the stage now more than ever.

Actors' Theatre Presents THE REALISTIC JONESES

Santa Cruz County Actors' Theatre, who brings the community the annual sold-out 8 Tens @ Eight Short Play Festival, presents a full-length staged production of Will Eno's renowned Broadway play, The Realistic Joneses, opening May 18 and playing through June 3, at the Center Stage Theater in downtown Santa Cruz.

THE LAST SHIP Sets Sail On Tour

The UK & Ireland tour of Sting's The Last Ship has launched in Liverpool this week - following a sell-out, critically-acclaimed 4-week run at Newcastle's Northern Stage.

PENNY DREADFUL's Reeve Carney to Make Green Room 42 Debut

THE GREEN ROOM 42 - Broadway's newest intimate concert venue - will present the debut of Reeve Carney on Thursday, May 3 at 9:30 PM. He is best known for his portrayal of Dorian Gray in Showtime's "Penny Dreadful," Riff Raff in Fox TV's Rocky Horror Picture Show reimagining, as well as originating the role of Peter Parker in Julie Taymor and U2's Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark. Featuring selections from his five-time Independent Music Award-winning album, Youth Is Wasted, as well a few surprises from the Broadway canon and the Great American Songbook, Reeve delivers a one-man-show that feels more like an invitation only after-party than traditional concert performance.

Arts Centre Melbourne and Wander Productions Present SCARAMOUCHE JONES

Acclaimed Australian actor Colin Friels will star in British playwright Justin Butcher's brilliant one-man play Scaramouche Jones at Arts Centre Melbourne's Fairfax Studio from 15 - 25 August. This will be the first time Friels has performed a solo theatre piece in his long and celebrated career.

Global Creatures (Carmen Pavlovic, producer) has announced principal casting for Moulin Rouge! The Musical,playing Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG)'s Emerson Colonial Theatre for just 36 performances from June 27, 2018 through August, 5, 2018. Reviving a great theatrical tradition, Boston's crown jewel reopens its doors this summer with the World Premiere engagement of the musical, based on the 2001 20th Century Fox Motion Picture by Baz Luhrmann.

Kevin Hafso-Koppman To Direct RED At Oceanside Theatre Company

Oceanside Theatre Company (OTC) announces its production of RED by John Logan. Produced by OTC artistic director Ted Leib, the production is directed by Kevin Hafso-Koppman and features Robert May and Luke Monday. The production will run May 4th - 20th.

Theatre Arlington is stepping outside the box this spring and asking the question, "What do you see?" in Red by John Logan.  Winner of six Tony Awards in 2010, including Best Play, Red goes inside the studio of famed Abstract-Expressionist artist Mark Rothko at the height of his career in 1958. Rothko has just landed the biggest commission in the history of modern art at the time, but is struggling with his young, idealistic assistant, Ken, and his own inner demons. Ken's answers to the initial question result in more thought-provoking and probing questions, shedding light on the meaning of art, integrity and commercialism. The two artists explosively challenge each other, revealing their own fears, philosophies, visions and secrets.

There are three very good reasons to see RED, Theatre Artists Studio's production of John Logan's Tony award-winning drama: The acting. The acting. The acting! Indeed, there's a fourth very good reason and that is the astute and impeccable direction of Carol MacLeod. Veteran thespian Michael Fleck delivers a roaring and riveting performance as Mark Rothko. Theatre Artists Studio presents RED

Master abstract expressionist Mark Rothko has just landed the biggest commission in the history of modern art - a series of murals for New York's famed Four Seasons Restaurant. In the two fascinating years that follow, Rothko works feverishly with his young assistant, Ken, in his studio on the Bowery. But when Ken gains the confidence to challenge him, Rothko faces the agonizing possibility that his crowning achievement could also become his undoing.

GLOBAL CREATURES Strides the World Stage in 2018

Australia's Global Creatures will secure its place as a leading international theatre production company as it celebrates its biggest year ever in 2018.   This year in the UK, the company opens Strictly Ballroom on the West End in April and Walking with Dinosaurs will again roam the globe on a new world tour with August dates confirmed at London's O2 Arena.
