Arena Announces 2011-12 Season; Pre-Broadway LIKE WATER FOR CHOCOLATE, MUSIC MAN, RED& More

In the midst of a record-breaking 60th Anniversary season and inaugural year in the Mead Center for American Theater, Arena Stage Artistic Director Molly Smith announced 11 selections for the second year in the new venue. Furthering the Mead Center as a national center for the production, presentation, development and study of American theater, year two continues the dynamic, diverse and impressive work from our country's theater artists.

RED, RACE, et al. Set for Goodman Theatre's 2011 Season

It's a 'red hot' line-up! Artistic Director Robert Falls announces five of eight play selections in Goodman Theatre's upcoming 2011/2012 subscription season-beginning with his production of the Tony Award-winning Broadway sensation Red, by John Logan, in September. Next in the Albert Theatre, Resident Director Chuck Smith stages David Mamet's Race in a Chicago premiere, following its acclaimed Broadway run. The Goodman then welcomes Spanish director Calixto Bieito, known for his radical opera stagings, in his American theater debut with a new interpretation of the rarely-produced Camino Real by Tennessee Williams. The season concludes on a high note with Regina Taylor's musical Crowns-revived for its 10th anniversary. In the Owen Theatre, rising star playwright Danai Gurira brings her world-premiere production of The Convert, a stand-out offering in the Goodman's recent New Stages new play reading series. Still to be announced are three plays-including a collaboration with Chicago's Teatro Vista. The 2011/2012 season also includes the 34th annual production of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol.

Ralph Fiennes In Talks for BOND 23

According to Daily Mail, Ralph Fiennes is in talks to join Daniel Craig and Judi Dench in the newest addition to the James Bond movies, BOND 23. Stage veteran Simon Russell Beale is also rumored to be joining the cast. Production for the film is set to begin in late 2011. Sam Mendes will direct the 23rd film in the Bond franchise and Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan will write the screenplay. Details on the plot of the film have not yet been released.

The Human Race, Dayton's own professional theatre company, will celebrate its 25th season with four shows that garnered a total of 25 Tony Award nominations, plus a new musical that turns halftime into laugh time.

Judi Dench Will be Back for BOND 23

Darkhorizons.com has confirmed that Dame Judi Dench will be returning in her role as 'M' in the upcoming, 23rd installment of the James Bond series. Daniel Craig will also return as '007' for Bond 23. Production for the film is set to begin in late 2011. Sam Mendes will direct the film and Neal Purvis, Robert Wade and John Logan will write the screenplay. Details on the plot of the film have not yet been released.

HBO Passes on MIRACULOUS YEAR Series

According to Deadline.com, HBO has chosen not to go further with John Logan's Miraculous Year pilot. The Broadway star packed pilot was directed by Kathryn Bigelow. HBO reortedly decided to pass on the series becuase it did not have a wide enough appeal.

Xanthe Elbrick Leads Venus Flytrap At The Workshop Theater 11/4

Tony Award nominee Marcia Milgrom Dodge (Ragtime) will direct Tony Award nominee Xanthe Elbrick (Coram Boy) in the world premiere production of Venus Flytrap by Anthony Dodge. Venus Flytrap will begin performances on November 4, 2010 at The Workshop Theater.
