2011 Student Academy Award Winners Announced

Fifteen students from colleges and universities around the world were honored tonight (June 11) as winners in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' 38th Annual Student Academy Awards® competition. For several days, they had participated in a slate of industry-related activities and social events culminating in the awards ceremony, which featured as presenters actress Jennifer Garner, Oscar®-nominated animator John Musker, and Academy Award-winning producer Edward Zwick alongside Academy President Tom Sherak at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

Jennifer Garner and Oscar-nominated animator John Musker have been tapped to present at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' 38th Annual Student Academy Awards ceremony on Saturday, June 11, at 6 p.m., at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater. The awards ceremony is the culmination of a week of industry-related activities and social events that the Academy is hosting for the 15 students from the U.S. and abroad who have been selected as winners this year.

BroadwayWorld was reporting LIVE throughout Oscar night, February 27. The fun began at 7pm EST when the starts take to the red carpet. The ceremony was broadcast live from the Kodak Theatre at the Hollywood & Highland Center on ABC. The Oscar presentation was also televised live in more than 200 countries worldwide.

Scott Rudin to be Honored by Producers Guild of America

The Producers Guild of America (PGA) announced today that producer Scott Rudin will receive the 2011 David O. Selznick Achievement Award in Motion Pictures. The award will be presented to Rudin at the 22nd Annual Producers Guild Awards ceremony on Saturday, January 22nd at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles.
Disney's 'Prep & Landing' Returns with Two Holiday Specials

'Prep &Landing' returns this season with an all new 7-Minute animated short, 'Operation: Secret Santa,' airing on ABC in December, while the half-hour animated special, 'Prep & Landing: Naughty vs. Nice,' debuts in 2011. 'Prep & Landing' became an instant favorite with viewers and emerged as TV's number 1 holiday special in the 2009 season. It was also the highest kids rating (kids 2-11/ 7.5/23), for any primetime telecast on broadcast TV in 2009. The special went on to win four Emmy Awards.
'Waking Sleeping Beauty' Gets Limited Theatrical Release, 3/26

After a successful festival debut, Waking Sleeping Beauty will begin its theatrical run with limited releases in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and San Francisco on March 26, 2010. Directed by Don Hahn and produced by Peter Schneider and Don Hahn, Waking Sleeping Beauty was an Official Selection at the 2009 Telluride Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival and winner of the Audience Award at the Hamptons International Film Festival.

Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS will host a special free advance screening of WAKING SLEEPING BEAUTY, the highly anticipated new film, on Tuesday, March 16 at 7:30 PM at The Directors Guild of America (110 West 57th Street). Immediately after the screening, there will be a discussion featuring the film's director Don Hahn and producer Peter Schneider. The discussion will be moderated by Patrick Pacheco, who conducted interviews for the film.
Art Directors Guild Honors Warren Beatty

Variety reports that Warren Beatty has been named the recipient of the The Art Directors Guild's Outstanding Contribution to Cinematic Imagery Award. Not undeserving of the nod, only Beatty and Orson Welles have received Academy Award nominations as an actor, director, writer and producer on the same film, an achievement Beatty did with Heaven Can Wait and Reds. Beatty will be presented with the prize on February 13 at the Beverly Hilton.
