The highly anticipated debut of Disney Junior's SOFIA THE FIRST, a new animated series about Princess Sofia, an adventurous little girl who is learning how to adjust to royal life after her mom marries the king and she becomes a princess overnight, debuts FRIDAY, JANUARY 11 on Disney Channel (9:30-10:00 a.m., ET/PT) and Disney Junior (5:30-6:00 p.m., ET/PT).
The Sunday (November 18) premiere of Disney Junior's "Sofia the First," an animated fairytale about a little girl who becomes a princess, delivered a crowning glory of 5.2 million Total Viewers on Disney Channel, handily becoming the #1 cable TV telecast of 2012 among Kids 2-5 (1.5 million/9.1 rating) and Girls 2-5 (954,000/12.2 rating). If you had the opportunity to see RIVERDANCE at the Fox this past weekend, then you were treated to a fine display of Terpsichore and musicianship. If you didn't, then you may have missed your chance to see it at all, since it was, in all likelihood, the troupe's final trip to St. Louis. It's a shame, because the show is really an entertaining mix of song and dance. I saw it last year, and I took my wife and son with me this year, and we all enjoyed it tremendously. The sheer athleticism of the dancers, backed by the superb interplay of some world class musicians, is not one that should be missed. The audience in attendance certainly responded very favorably to this unique production.

What happens to them over the course of 100 minutes gives this introspective a la Sondheim or Jason Robert Brown musical its punch and substance. With five stellar singers/actresses and fluid direction from Richard Israel Having It All has hit written all over it. It truly soars.

As previously reported on BroadwayWorld, Ireland's Abbey Theatre will present Ibsen's JOHN GABRIEL BORKMAN from October 6 to November 20 in a production starring Alan Rickman, Fiona Shaw, and Lindsay Duncan. The Theatre's official website has now announced that the production will be brought to New York in January 2011. A New York venue has yet to be announced.

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) and Executive Director Kathy Evans announced the directors and casts for the eight musicals being presented at its 20th Annual Festival of New Musicals at New World Stages (340 West 50th St) on Monday, October 20 and Tuesday, October 21, 2008. Also, announced were the line-up for this year's Songwriter Showcase happening during the Festival.
