Beginning today, NPR opens Cabinet of Wonders, a new series for public radio featuring the best of the acclaimed New York variety show which finds leading novelists, musicians and comedians each performing as part of a rare showcase of talent. After all, the time is right for a little variety.
Musician/author John Wesley Harding continues his Cabinet of Wonders residency at New York's City Winery tonight, May 19. Drawing together collaborators from the worlds of music, literature and comedy, the Cabinet of Wonders features Harding curating, hosting and performing with a number of hand-picked artists in a variety show format. After a run of shows that included appearances by Edie Brickell, Sondre Lerche, Eugene Mirman, Rick Moody, A.C. Newman, the Punch Brothers, Josh Ritter, Sarah Vowell, Colson Whitehead and many others, Harding goes on in May to feature performances by artists including Kurt Braunohler, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Janeane Garofalo, Kelly Hogan, Lenny Kaye, Sam Lipsyte, Tift Merritt & Simone Dinnerstein and Langhorne Slim.
