Producers Jed Bernstein and Adam Zotovich announced today that Tony Award-winners James Earl Jones and Vanessa Redgrave will return to the New York stage this Fall to star opposite one another in the Broadway Premiere of Alfred Uhry‘s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Driving Miss Daisy. Directed by David Esbjornson (The Goat, Or Who Is Sylvia?), Driving Miss Daisy will begin performances on October 7, 2010, at the John Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street), with an official opening on Monday, October 25, 2010.

Former 'Britain's Got Talent' contestant Susan Boyle may sing for Pope Benedict XVI when he visits Britain this September, the Associated Press reports today. Although talks are still in progress, Boyle will likely perform at a papal Mass in Bellahouston Park, Glasgow on September 16. Benedict's visit will be the first visit of a pope to Britain since 1982; he will address Parliament and beatify nineteenth-century Cardinal John Henry Newman.

Urban/Appalachia explores the dynamic relationship between Baltimore and Appalachia using music, film, and art to unearth stories and songs of decades of migration. From rural people searching for work in cities to urban offenders being sent to new Appalachian prisons, as coal miners become prison guards and coal energy shifts to wind power, the complicated and evolving relationship between Baltimore and the mountains offers a unique prism through which to consider race, culture, power and history.

Primary Stages (Casey Childs, Founder & Executive Producer; Andrew Leynse, Artistic Director; Elliot Fox, Managing Director) concludes its celebratory 25th Anniversary Season with a special celebrity benefit stage reading performance of Godfather IV written by Emmy Award-winner Tom Fontana ('St. Elsewhere,' 'OZ'), with original music by Stephen Elkins.

Several Broadway stars are set for the upcoming Primary Stages Concert series, including Charles Busch, Mario Cantone, Penny Fuller, Julie Halston, Jamie deRoy, Gregg Edelman, and Karen Mason. The performances will take place in April and May over a one week span that will take place at the 59E59 Theatre.
