Samuel D. Hunter's haunting Off-Broadway smash-tragicomedy The Whale will receive its fifth production worldwide in Austin TX-Spring 2014-following successful runs at The Denver Center, Victory Gardens, South Coast Rep, and Playwrights Horizons in NYC. Austin's own A Chick & A Dude Productions will present the show at Hyde Park Theatre (511 W. 43rd St.) Thursdays through Todays, February 20-March 15, 2014. Curtain at 8pm. Following two previous much-acclaimed seasons of American drama, the Ustinov presents The American Season 2014: three UK premieres, Dan LeFranc's The Big Meal, directed by Michael Boyd; Keith Huff's gritty two-hander, A Steady Rain, directed by David Grindley; and Lynn Nottage's multi award-winning Intimate Apparel, directed by Laurence Boswell. Casting will be announced in early 2014.
From April 3 - April 12, 2014, The Boston Teen Acting Troupe will present the New England premiere of THE DREAM OF THE BURNING BOY, the hit Off-Broadway drama by David West Read. This will be the first production entirely produced, directed, acted and designed by teenagers. The play will be directed by Jack Serio and performed in The Stanford Calderwood Pavilion at The Boston Center for The Arts, 527 Tremont St in Boston's South End.
