On this the 40th anniversary of All Nite Soul, the Jazz Ministry of Saint Peter's Church - the Jazz Church - is thrilled to honor National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Jazz Master, saxophonist and flutist Frank Wess. The event begins with Jazz Vespers at 5 PM. All Nite Soul starts at 7 PM with over 80 musicians celebrating All Nite Soul and honoring Frank Wess. An 'exhibit wall' in the Living Room of Saint Peter's Church will tell the story of Frank Wess with memorabilia.

The Column Awards, a 501(c)3 nonprofit honoring excellence in theater in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, presented its 11th annual awards last night in Carpenter Hall at the Irving Arts Center. Uptown Players and Plaza Theatre Company tied for most wins with 10 each. In all, 17 theaters companies shared 62 awards, divided between Equity and non-Equity productions.

It was 1973 and Harvey Milk was giving a speech to the International Longshoreman & Warehousemen's Union of San Francisco, 'We don't have to wait for budgets to be passed, surveys to be made, political wheeling and dealing. For it takes no compromising to give people their rights? it takes no money to respect the individual. It takes no political deal to give people freedom.' After three failed campaigns, Harvey finally won a seat on the Board of Supervisors in January 1978. Eleven months later he was assassinated in City Hall.
