The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in association with the British Council presents ON THE FRINGE: Eye on Edinburgh in various locations throughout the Kennedy Center from October 28 to November 13, 2010. This month, Anthony Kearns, a founding member of The Irish Tenors, begins a unique concert tour to help improve education for children across the U.S. The tour will feature Kearns singing favorite songs of Ireland, Broadway and operas in San Francisco, CA (September 23), Long Beach, CA (September 26), Columbus, OH (October 21), and Wilton, CT (October 23). The concert tour, sponsored by Wexford Institute, continues in Spring 2011.

Washington National Opera (WNO) and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts have announced the retirement of Music Director Heinz Fricke. The announcement marks the conclusion of the German maestro's remarkable 18-year tenure leading the Washington National Opera Orchestra and the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, which cooperatively share a corps of 61 professional musicians. In recognition of Maestro Fricke's contributions and the pivotal role he played in the musical development of the groups, Maestro Fricke will hold the honorific title of Music Director Emeritus of both the Washington National Opera and Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestras.
The Utah Shakespearean Festival's New American Playwrights Project (NAPP) will present three exciting new works by three contemporary American playwrights.
