Cygnet Theatre Announces Season 13 Lineup

Cygnet Theatre has announced a Season 13 lineup featuring seven productions sure to take audiences on a rollicking theatrical journey. Adding a new creative influence to the season will be Cygnet's most recent addition, Rob Lutfy, who has been appointed as Cygnet's Associate Artistic Director and will start in the summer.

Broadway-Bound GIGI, Starring Vanessa Hudgens, Begins Tonight in D.C.

The new Broadway production of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe's beloved Oscar and Tony Award-winning film and stage musical, Gigi, begins its pre-Broadway engagement in the Eisenhower Theater at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. tonight, January 16, and continues through February 12, 2015. Opening night is January 29, 2015.

Cygnet Theatre Presents SONS OF THE PROPHET, Now thru 2/15

- Cygnet Theatre will continue its run of presenting Southern California premieres with Sons of the Prophet, the latest work by Stephen Karam (Speech and Debate). Premiering at New York's Roundabout Theatre in 2011, Karam was hailed as 'a major new voice in American Theater.' His brutally funny and explosive comedy was a finalist for the 2012 Pulitzer Prize and has received multiple other awards including the 2012 Drama Critics Circle, Outer Critics Circle, Lucille Lortel and Hull-Warriner Awards for Best Play. The production runs tonight, January 15 - February 15 at Cygnet Theatre in Old Town. Opening Night for Media is Saturday, January 24, 8 pm.

This Just In! GIGI Books Broadway's Neil Simon Theatre; Sets March Previews & April Opening

As rumored, expected and hoped, Gigi is heading to Broadway, straight from Washington, DC! The new production of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe's beloved Oscar and Tony Award-winning film and stage musical Gigi will open on Broadway on Wednesday, April 8 at the Neil Simon Theatre (250 West 52nd Street). Previews will begin on Thursday, March 19. Tickets go on sale on Friday, January 23 at 10:00 AM.

National Portrait Gallery to Exhibit Rare Portraits by Elaine de Kooning, March 11

In “Elaine de Kooning: Portraits,” the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery will display a major retrospective of the artist's work in portraiture. Elaine de Kooning (1918–1989) created abstract and figurative paintings and drawings in New York City during the height of the Abstract Expressionist movement following World War II. The exhibition will include 66 of her works; it will be open March 13 through Jan. 10, 2016.

JetBlue to Become Only Airline to Connect Reno-Tahoe With New York City

NEW YORK, NY - JetBlue Airways (NASDAQ: JBLU), New York's Hometown Airline, today announces it will be the only airline to offer nonstop service between Nevada's Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) and the U.S. East Coast as it launches service from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) on May 28, 2015. Reno-Tahoe will be the airline's 89th destination and is among a number of new JetBlue routes in the West.

Delta Air Lines, The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and JFK International Air Terminal Unveil Newest Expansion at JFK Airport's Terminal 4

Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL), the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and JFK International Air Terminal LLC (JFKIAT) today unveiled the next phase of a Terminal 4 expansion at John F. Kennedy International Airport. The $175 million project adds 11 gates and 75,000 square feet to Terminal 4's Concourse B and continues Delta's $1.2 billion investment to enhance and expand the terminal.

Kansas City Ballet to Perform NEW MOVES, 2/6

KANSAS CITY, MO (January 6, 2015) — Artistic Director Devon Carney today announced the choreographers chosen for New Moves, a unique performance event designed to search out, develop and showcase emerging choreographers, both from the national dance scene as well as locally within Kansas City Ballet. New Moves is presented to provide time and space for choreographers to create world premiere works with accomplished professional dancers. New Moves will feature choreographers Robert Dekkers, Andrea Schermoly and Kelly Ann Sloan, plus Kansas City Ballet artists Ryan Jolicoeur-Nye, Travis Guerin and Jill Marlow.

Pianist Carlo Grante to Perform Brahms Variations at Lincoln Center, 2/10

Italian pianist Carlo Grante will present the last of three concerts in his series "Masters of High Romanticism" on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall in New York City. He will devote this concert to variations by Johannes Brahms, including two monumental works in this genre: those on themes by Handel and Paganini.

John Bedford Lloyd & Sam Robards Join Cast of THE PRICE at CTG/Mark Taper Forum

The full cast is set for the Center Theatre Group / Mark Taper Forum production of "The Price" by Pulitzer Prize, Tony Award and National Medal of Honor-winner Arthur Miller. The penetrating family drama by one of America's greatest dramatists will open the Mark Taper Forum's new season February 11 through March 22, 2015, with the opening set for February 21.

Japan Society to Present 'Stories from the War: Reflecting on WWII through Theater'

As part of its 2014-2015 Performing Arts Season, Japan Society presents Stories from the War: Reflecting on WWII through Theater, featuring three theatrical offerings within a Society-wide series marking the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII. This theater series, spanning January through May 2015, is the centerpiece of a larger Society-wide series, Stories from the War, which includes a film series, lectures and education programs, encouraging reflection on the events, figures and issues surrounding the war and its impact on the people of the United States and Japan from today's vantage point.

Catherine Zuber Previews Costumes from Broadway-Bound GIGI

The production will feature costumes by the legendary Catherine Zuber, who recently shared some of her designs with the New York Times. She told NYT: "It's not really historically accurate.
