Musical Theatre Factory, in association with The Chelsea Symphony, has just announced the lineup for its gala concert event GET YOURSELF SOME NEW ORCHESTRATIONS, the launch of an exciting new series which pairs emergent musical theatre writers with Broadway orchestrators to commission stunning new orchestrations of their shows.

Musical Theatre Factory in association with The Chelsea Symphony will present the gala concert event "Get Yourself Some New Orchestrations," the launch of an exciting new series which pairs emergent musical theatre writers with Broadway orchestrators to commission stunning new orchestrations of their shows. Excerpts from four new musicals (and one reimagined favorite!) will be brought to life by the 35-piece Chelsea Symphony and a cast of Broadway stars. In addition to the new works audiences will also get to enjoy an exclusive performance of the touring cast of The Bridges of Madison County, staring Elizabeth Stanley and Andrew Samonsky.  "New Orchestrations," will take place at Merkin Concert Hall (129 W 67th St) on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 8PM.  Tickets are $50 and are available online at mtf.nyc/neworchestrations.

Kathy Evans, Founding Executive Director of Rhinebeck Writers Retreat, announced the 17 writers and 8 new musicals selected for the fifth summer of weeklong retreats. For eight consecutive weeks beginning July 5th, each writing team will have a residency in Rhinebeck, New York. Writers are provided a private home, transportation, food, and a $400 stipend. This year's writers include Obie winner Kirsten Childs, Tony nominee Elizabeth Davis, and 2015 Jonathan Larson award-winners Charlie Sohne, Tim Rosser, and Sam Willmott, who also just won the Kleban Prize. 

The critically acclaimed comedic duo, The Calamari Sisters will perform a benefit performance of A MUSICAL COOKING LESSON on Sunday, April 19th for Emerging Artists Theatre in support of their mission to be an incubator for new voices from page to stage. Emerging Artists previous productions include Urban Momfare (FringeNYC Encores 2014), The Sensational Josephine Baker (Theatre Row), and the NY Times acclaimed Penny Penniworth.

Bristol Riverside Theatre presents Cooking With The Calamari Sisters, running July 30-August 3. Delphine and Carmela Calamari star in this delightfully zany comedy-cum-cooking class. Hilarity, failed dishes, and food fights ensue during this live “broadcast” of a public access cable cooking show hosted by two largerthan-life Italian sisters. They sing and dance to such beloved Italian favorites as “Volare,” “Come On A My House,” “Botcha Me,” “Que Sera Sera,” “That's Amore,” and of course, “Mambo Italiano!” as they try to make it through their final broadcast together in one piece.Performances run Wednesday, July 30 at 2:00 and 7:30, Thursday, July 31 at 7:30 PM, Friday, August 1 at 8:00 PM, Saturday, August 2 at 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM, and Sunday, August 3 at 3:00 PM. The Dramatists Guild is the professional association of playwrights, librettists, lyricists and composers writing for the stage. And with almost 7,000 members, that's a lot of creative energy!
