Bay Area Cabaret, now in its 14th season of presenting world-renowned Broadway, pop and jazz vocalists, announces the 2017-2018 season of shows at San Francisco's most elegant and historic showroom, the Fairmont Venetian Room (950 Mason Street atop Nob Hill). This marks the seventh consecutive season at the legendary 'grand dame' Fairmont San Francisco and the stellar lineup of performers features some making their Bay Area Cabaret debuts, as well as the return of several favorites.

New York based trumpeter and composer Glenn Makos' newest release - 'The Michel Legrand Project' - with his quartet reimagines the music of Michel Legrand as Legrand celebrates his 85th birthday in 2017. The genesis of the project was the result of a kitchen renovation. 'With all of the construction noise in my house, I had a difficult time writing for seventeen people what was then my current project composing for big band. I've always admired Legrand's music and one morning last summer, I woke up and heard his music in my head. It was a quartet, ironically, without a piano, sort of like Ornette meets Legrand.'

Legendary jazz singer and lyricist Jon Hendricks, dubbed 'The Poet Laureate of Jazz,' celebrated jazz vocalist and actress Annie Ross, and acclaimed jazz singer Janis Siegel are among the artists who will be honored at the 31st Annual Bistro Awards gala tonight, March 8 at 6:30 pm at the Gotham Comedy Club, 208 W. 23rd St. As is the Bistro Awards tradition, the evening will feature performances by the winners.

The Bones of Cork will make a rare public appearance at the Cork Jazz Festival. They are all in the same place for the first time in 5 years and are doing a gig in Coughlan's on Sunday 26th October 9pm. This will be a lively celebration and is sure to bring the roof down!
