Steven Blier & Darius de Haas Hold Concert for Launch of QUIET PLEASE CD, 4/28

In celebration of their brand new recording, Quiet Please, renowned musician Steven Blier and celebrated vocalist Darius de Haas will present a special concert, featuring selections from the CD. The one night only event will take place on Thursday, April 28th at 8pm in the Merkin Concert Hall, located within The Kaufman Center (129 West 67th St.). Nashville Symphony Presents 2011/2012 Symphony

The GRAMMY® Award-winning Nashville Symphony continues to celebrate its triumphant return to Schermerhorn Symphony Center with the announcement of its 2011/12 season. Beginning with a special appearance by Yo-Yo Ma on September 9, 2011, and culminating with a performance of Orff's enduringly popular Carmina Burana on May 31-June 2, 2012, the season will feature a wide array of world-class guest artists, including banjoist Béla Fleck, electric violinist Tracy Silverman, vocalists Wynonna and Kathy Mattea, trumpeter Chris Botti, guitarist Larry Carlton and The Cleveland Orchestra. One very special highlight for the orchestra will be a performance at Carnegie Hall on Saturday, May 12, 2012. Details will be announced in mid-February.

New Amsterdam Singers Presents BACH TO BETINIS, 12/12

The New Amsterdam Singers, led by Music Director Clara Longstreth, will present 'Bach to Betinis,' a program featuring rarely-heard works for double chorus, at the chorus's first concerts of the season. The works include Josef Rheinberger's seldom performed magnum opus Mass in E flat, written in 1878 for double chorus a cappella, and the beloved J. S. Bach motet Komm, Jesu, komm. Familiar works of Poulenc (Hodie Christus natus est) and Verdi (Ave Maria) will also be performed, as well as three New York premieres. The concerts will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 122 East 88th Street at Lexington Avenue, on Friday, December 10 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, December 12 at 4 p.m.
