Harris Theater Announces Fall 2011 Events

Young People's Chorus Leads 9/11 Memorial Gathering 9/9

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of those lost on September 11, 2001, the Young People's Chorus of New York CityTM will give four free New York City performances as part of the worldwide 9/11 memorials beginning Friday, September 9.

Colburn School Student Triumphs at International Tchaikovsky Competition

It was announced today that The Colburn School Conservatory of Music graduate Nigel Armstrong (class of 2011) was the highest placed American at the prestigious XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition. Armstrong, who has studied at the Colburn School for four years, came in fourth position, taking the $7,250 prize.

Caitlin Lynch and Kevin Burdette Lead DARK SISTERS Opera at John Jay College; Tickets on Sale Now

Tickets are now on sale for the World Premiere production of DARK SISTERS, composed by Nico Muhly with libretto by Stephen Karam, conducted by Neal Goren, directed by Rebecca Taichman, and co-commissioned and co-produced by Gotham Chamber Opera, Music-Theatre Group and the Opera Company of Philadelphia. DARK SISTERS will premiere from November 9-19,2011 at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College, 899 Tenth Avenue, NYC. Steven Blier & Darius de Haas Hold Concert for Launch of QUIET PLEASE CD

In celebration of their brand new recording, Quiet Please, renowned musician Steven Blier and celebrated vocalist Darius de Haas will present a special concert, featuring selections from the CD. JCC Thurnauer School of Music Announces Selected Students For Master Class

The JCC Thurnauer School of Music, recently named a Major Arts Institution by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, is pleased to announce the violin students selected to perform in a master class with New York Philharmonic concertmaster Glenn Dicterow on Sunday, April 10 from 2 to 5 p.m.
