'The Red Shoes,' the newly restored 1948 masterpiece from directors Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger, will have its U.S. premiere at the Directors Guild of America on July 29. The film underwent an extensive 2-year 4K digital restoration by the UCLA Film & Television Archive and The Film Foundation, in association with the British Film Institute, ITV Global Entertainment Ltd and Janus Films.

The Department of Film, Video and Animation at The School of Visual Arts in conjunction with Dangerous Ground Productions and with the cooperation of Gena Rowlands and Faces Music, Inc, proudly presents a multimedia adaptation of John Cassavetes' HUSBANDS, conceived, designed and directed by Doris Mirescu. The production's producer and technical supervisor is Chris Newman. The play begins performances Tuesday, May 19th at 7:30PM at the SVA Theater (333 W. 23rd Street, and will play through Friday, May 22nd, the show will play performances Tuesday-Friday @ 7:30PM. Tickets for all shows are $10 General and $5 for students and seniors.

Using a unique fusion of video, television and live performance, acclaimed director Ivo van Hove 'brings new meaning to the term ?in your face' (Variety). Presented in Dutch with English supertitles, performances of Rouw Siert Electra (Mourning Becomes Electra) are scheduled February 25 - 28 in the Goodman's Owen Bruner Theatre. Tickets are $18 - $25; a full calendar, including dates, times, ticket prices and information about the free special event, appears at the end of the release.

Ivo van Hove to Present OPENING NIGHT World Premiere at B.A.M.

Following visionary New York productions of The Misanthrope (2007) and Hedda Gabler (2004), Flemish director Ivo van Hove returns with Opening Night, a U.S. premiere engagement that also marks the New York debut of his company, Toneelgroep Amsterdam. A joint production by Toneelgroep Amsterdam and the Belgium-based company NTGent, Opening Night transforms director John Cassavetes' award-winning 1977 film to the stage. Five performances of Opening Night will take place in the BAM Harvey Theater on Dec 2-6 at 7:30pm.

John Rubinstein to Play The Wizard in LA Wicked

Veteran stage, screen and television star John Rubinstein is announced to play The Wizard in the new Los Angeles production of WICKED, which begins performances on February 10, 2007, at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood. Rubinstein joins stars Eden Espinosa and Megan Hilty, who play Elphaba and Glinda, and Carol Kane, who plays Madame Morrible. Kane appeared in the role during the sold out engagement of WICKED at the Pantages Theatre last summer, and then went on to play the part on Broadway.
