New York Live Arts Presents STORY/TIME, Beginning Tonight

The Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, New York Live Arts' Resident Dance Company, returns to their home stage for the New York City premiere of the celebrated work Story/Time #35, 36, 37, 38 & 39, today, November 4-8 and 11-15 at 7:30pm. Noted by the San Francisco Chronicle as a work that's 'Modern yet wry, gorgeously danced and at times discordant.a dance-theater roller coaster with surprises around every corner,' the New York City performances will feature an array of guest artists, including Theaster Gates, Kathleen Chalfant and Lois Welk, with live music by Ted Coffey and The Black Monks of Mississippi.

The Vermont Contemporary Music Ensemble Presents PERCUSSION This Weekend

In recent years several very fine percussionists have moved to northern Vermont. The VCME is taking advantage of this by presenting a program of some of the major works for percussion ensemble. Part of the mission of the VCME is to perform new music rarely heard in Vermont. This is such an occasion. You will hear John Cage's landmark Third Construction as well as some of the great works by Steve Reich and Mantle Hood with a new work by Turkish composer Füson Köksal. The musicians are: Jane Boxall, Nicola Cannizzaro, Rosina Cannizzaro and Thomas Toner with Steven Klimowski, bass clarinet.

The Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) today announced the participants of the third cycle of the BAM Professional Development Program (BAM PDP), led by BAM and the DeVos Institute of Arts Management at the University of Maryland. The companies for this session represent mixed disciplines ranging from dance to theater to opera. Chosen by a BAM-convened panel, the organizations taking part in this session are Encompass New Opera Theatre, Satellite Collective, Summation Dance, and Treehouse Shakers. As with the previous sessions, the DeVos Institute extended invitations to a group of organizations to apply for the training portion of the BAM PDP-expanding the program's reach beyond Brooklyn-based companies. Today OZ, Nashville's first contemporary arts center, announces its 2014-15 season, which runs today, September 12, 2014 - June 27, 2015. The season is bookended by premieres, beginning with two performances (September 12 & 13) of Tim Robbins' interpretation of A Midsummer Night's Dream, produced and acted by the company he founded and leads, The Actors' Gang, in the production's first U.S. engagement outside of the company's home theater in Los Angeles. New York Theatre Ballet announces the 2014-15 season, which will include a national tour and repertory performances at the 92nd Street Y (January 10-12, 2015), New York Live Arts (February 18-21, 2015) and Danspace (June 17-20, 2015). NYTB continues to maintain its association with the New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, and the Company's Once Upon A Ballet series for children will continue at Florence Gould Hall throughout the year.
