Word(s)PLAY! 2010 New Play Festival Held at Penumbra, 7/24

Penumbra Theatre Company, the nation's preeminent African American theatre, proudly announced today the second annual Word(s)PLAY!, a forum designed to develop new plays by African American playwrights.

New Amsterdam Singers Present New York Premieres 6/3

The New Amsterdam Singers, led by Music Director Clara Longstreth, will perform New York premieres by Ronald Perera and Kirke Mechem on a program of choral music entitled Morning, Evening, Earth and Sky Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 8 p.m. at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 316 East 88th Street. Ronald Perera's Earthsongs, a cycle of six poems by E. E. Cummings, was written in 1983 for women's voices, and was recently rearranged by the composer for mixed voices.

CARMEN, NORMA, FIGARO Announced for Lyric Opera's 2010-2011 Season

With the much anticipated move by the Lyric Opera of Kansas City to the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts in the fall of 2011, the 53rd Lyric Opera season will be the final one produced by the Company in the Lyric Theatre on 11th and Central streets in Kansas City, Missouri. With attendance and artistic quality at all-time highs, the Lyric Opera is already prepared for the move to the Kauffman Center in the fall of 2011.
