TBTB Closes THE MERCHANT OF VENICE on Theatre Row Tonight, 5/13

Theater Breaking Through Barriers (TBTB), the Off-Broadway company known for its productions that integrate able-bodied actors with artists with disabilities, presents William Shakespeare's THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, at Theatre Row's Clurman Theatre (410 West 42nd Street) through tonight, May 13. Ike Schambelan, TBTB artistic director and founder, directs.

Oratorio Society of New York Presents All-Czech Program at Carnegie Hall Tonight

The Oratorio Society of New York presents an all-Czech program featuring a masterwork of the choral repertoire and a world premiere to conclude its 139th season tonight, April 26, 2012, at 8:00 PM at Carnegie Hall. OSNY Music Director Kent Tritle conducts, for the first time, Dvorak's Stabat mater, as well as the world premiere of an OSNY commission: Song of Solomon by Juraj Filas, one of the most prominent composers of the Czech Republic. The program's soloists are Rachel Rosales, soprano; Charlotte Daw Paulsen, mezzo-soprano; John Bellemer, tenor; and Ben Wager, bass.

Oratorio Society of New York Announces Winners of 2012 Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition

On Saturday, April 14, 2012, the Oratorio Society of New York announced the winners of the 2012 Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition, the only major vocal competition devoted to solo oratorio singing. Immediately following the competition's final round, at which eight singers each sang two selections from the oratorio repertoire, the following prizes were announced.

Lincoln Center Festival Set for July-August; Full Listings

Nigel Redden, Director of Lincoln Center Festival, today announced the Festival's line-up, which runs from July 5 through August 5, 2012. Single tickets go on sale on April 2. Theater offerings include Mikhail Baryshnikov in Dmitry Krymov's staging of a new play, In Paris, as well as Sydney Theatre Company's acclaimed production of Uncle Vanya directed by Tamas Ascher and adapted by Andrew Upton. The stellar cast includes John Bell, Cate Blanchett, Hayley McElhinney, Richard Roxburgh, and Hugo Weaving.

Sydney Theatre Company's (STC) acclaimed production of Uncle Vanya by Anton Chekhov, adapted by Andrew Upton and directed by Tamas Ascher (whose staging of Ivanov for Katona Jozsef Theatre was critically acclaimed at Lincoln Center Festival 2009), will be a highlight of the Lincoln Center Festival this Summer.
