As you know, Dear Readers, I have no love for the constant turning of movies into Broadway shows but I'm afraid that it's a trend that is not going away any time soon and sometimes results in some good shows (a certain blonde lawyer springs to mind). And the latest of those movie to stage conversions, "Kinky Boots" has hit the 5th Avenue Theatre with its tour and while the show's lack of songs that move the story along should kill it for me, somehow they've made it a raucous good time and I think I know why. But we'll get to that in a minute.

Kinky Boots has ushered in the 50th Anniversary of ASU Gammage in Tempe AZ with a righteous and literally uplifting kick in the pants of intolerance and stereotyping, featuring a star-spangled cast of characters and theatrical elements.

The 11-day run marks the launch of the musical's national tour. A hit on Broadway, the highly popular show has created much anticipation for a touring production. Kinky Boots will be the first Broadway show to launch a national tour in Las Vegas, which is a dazzling fit.

Steven Booth (Avenue Q, Glory Days, Dogfight) will star as shoe factory owner Charlie Price. Parker and Booth will be joined by Lindsay Nicole Chambers (Hairspray, Legally Blonde, Lysistrata Jones) as Lauren, Joe Coots (TV's 'Inside Amy Schumer,' Full Monty national tour) as Don, Craig Waletzko (Guys & Dolls, Young Frankenstein) as George and Grace Stockdale in her touring debut as Nicola. Good to Go Entertainment has announced the reading of their inaugural project the new musical Motel Rasdell - a new musical by Danielle DeMatteo (music and lyrics) and Chrisina Bracco (book) will take place in New York City today, January 22nd under the direction of Donnie Kehr (Jersey Boys, Billy Elliot). Broadway's Felicia Finley (Mamma Mia, The Wedding Singer), Sara Schmidt (Jersey Boys) and Tracy McDowell (Rent) are among those who will be participating.
