Tappan Wilder, nephew of famed playwright Thornton Wilder and literary executor, and cast members of the critically acclaimed (Lucille Lortel Award-winning) David Cromer production of Thornton Wilder's Our Town, in association with The Thornton Wilder Society, will present the 'Thornton Wilder Prize,' to Robert MacNeil on Saturday afternoon, May 22, 2010 at the Barrow Street Theatre (27 Barrow Street).
The Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs has announced the nominees for the 2010 24th Annual MAC Awards. The ceremony honoring the nominees, will take place on May 4, 2010 at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill, and will be hosted by Sharon McNight. Leslie Uggams will be honored for Lifetime Achievement, with Board of Directors Awards being presented to Peter Leavy and playbill.com. The event will begin at 7:30pm. Doors open at 6:00pm. Lennie Watts will direct the evening, with Tracy Stark musical directing.
Three luminaries of the music, news and sports broadcasting professions will be honored in New York City on May 5 at WFUV Radio's Annual Gala 2010. Legendary singer, musician and multiple Grammy-winner Levon Helm will receive the WFUV Sound & Vision Award; Baseball Hall of Fame member Ernie Harwell, longtime broadcaster for the Detroit Tigers, will receive the Vin Scully Lifetime Achievement Award in Sports Broadcasting; and Bob Schieffer, the seven-time Emmy Award-winning television journalist, will receive the Charles Osgood Lifetime Achievement Award in Broadcast Journalism. New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg will attend and offer comments.

W;T will play a three-week limited engagement at the Spoon Theater (38 West 38th Street, 5th Fl.) Performances begin Wednesday, April 7th and continue through Sunday, April 25th. Starfighter Onstage, LLC has announced its new projects in development for 2010. First, it will start developing a new musical adapted from the comic novel VIVA MAX! by Jim Lehrer (NewsHour with Jim Lehrer). VIVA MAX! is a satire about a Mexican general who tries to impress a woman who spurned him, embarking on a quest to cross the border into the United States and recapture the Alamo. Jim Lehrer's novel was the source of a 1969 film comedy in which Peter Ustinov played the general. Fred Landau (who wrote the book for the LLC's LAST STARFIGHTER musical) is writing the book, and is developing the novel-to-stage adaptation of the story with Julie Miller. The composer and lyricist will be announced soon.

The starry lineup of performers lending their talents to benefit Urban Stages' Outreach Program include Adam Chanler-Berat (Next to Normal), Jenn Colella (High Fidelity), Lilli Cooper (Spring Awakening), Jerry Dixon (Once on this Island), Matt Doyle (Bye Bye Birdie), Emma Hunton (Spring Awakening), Morgan Karr (Spring Awakening), Kacie Sheik (Hair) and Tony Winner Tom Kitt (Next to Normal).
