The American Heroes Channel (AHC) announced today its Upfront programming lineup for the 2015-16 season.

The Public Theater announced complete casting today for the Public Lab production of TOAST, written by Lemon Andersen. Directed by Elise Thoron, TOAST begins previews on Tuesday, April 21 and runs through Sunday, May 10, with an official press opening on Tuesday, May 5.

The miniseries is executive produced by Tom Hanks (Emmy(R) winner for HBO's 'The Pacific'), Gary Goetzman (Emmy(R) winner for HBO's 'Game Change'), Edward Norton (HBO's 'By the People: The Election of Barack Obama'), Brad Pitt (Emmy(R) winner for HBO's 'The Normal Heart'), Dede Gardner (Emmy(R) winner for HBO's 'The Normal Heart'), Tim Kelly and Adam Leipzig.

THE WINTER'S TALE is not the easiest of Shakespeare's plays to stage. It must believably present a story sharply divided into two parts set in two different countries with drastically contrasting tones, and pull off an ending that resolves them by way of magic or a well-concealed plot, based on whichever point of view the director takes. The violence of the first half of the play in Sicilia (winter) melts away in the pastoral beauty of Bohemia (spring) in the second where the story continues sixteen years later before reuniting the past and present and absolving the sins of a repentant king.

It is the Throne that takes center stage in Jared Sakren's searing production of William Shakespeare's King John ~ and all the men and women in it merely players to its seductions and channels for the issues that try the souls of their time. It is Maren Maclean who supercharges the play with an electrifying performance as Constance, the aggrieved mother who demands that her son Arthur be given that which is rightfully his ~ that Throne. Southwest Shakespeare Company's production is blessed with a rich ensemble on a simple stage dramatically enhanced by Daniel Davisson's moody lighting.
