For the past two years I've been attending the Webster Student Cabaret, which this time consists of three talented females and three talented males. This is a Cabaret showcase (I took in the 7:30pm show on 12/13/11) courtesy of the Kranzberg and the Presenters Dolan, which is made possible through the generous work of Jim Dolan. Lara Teeter and Neal Richardson, lending their talents as the director and musical director/arranger/accompanist, and media contact/organizer, respectively had a mixed group that focused on an eclectic collection of standards, show tunes both old and new, and pop, mostly country-fied. All of which lent itself to a breezy night of young adults showing us what they've got on their collective plates to offer for their dreams of stardom.

Seventy-seven years after its London premiere, Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein's "Three Sisters" has come out of the dark for a full production with San Francisco's 42nd Street Moon. The musical only played for two months before closing in London and never made it to America aside from a staged concert of select songs. The restoration, which has been in the works for more than a year and received a grant from The National Endowment for the Arts, finally made its American debut Saturday night.

Stage Door Canteen: Broadway Responds To World War II, a new studio cast recording inspired by Ted Chapin's highly-lauded Lyrics & Lyricists program at New York's 92nd Street Y, has just been released by DRG Records. Featuring a stellar line-up of New York talent -- including Anderson Davis, Jeffry Denman, Brandon Victor Dixon, Debra Monk and Betsy Wolfe -- Stage Door Canteen presents a wide selection of musical responses to World War II, including both rarities and standards by some of the biggest songwriters of the day: Rodgers & Hammerstein, Jerome Kern, Lorenz Hart, Irving Berlin, Frank Loesser, Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter, Kurt Weill, Leonard Bernstein, Comden & Green and more. A talented cast, led by Broadway star STACIA FERNANDEZ, is preparing for the opening of the contemporary rock musical Next to Normal at Florida Studio Theatre. Performances begin in the Keating Theatre November 2 - January 7.

GINGER ROGERS, the Academy Award winning screen legend from the films 42nd Street, Top Hat, The Gay Divorcee and dozens more, would have been 100 this year. She will be celebrated with a live performance and an exhibition of her archive and memorabilia created in celebration of her life and career as one of America's most luminescent and talented motion picture actresses. The special exhibition opens at Boston's Mugar Library Building on Monday, October 24. Hosted by Nick Clooney, the event will feature an appearance by special guest Angela Lansbury. The live performances will debut at the Tsai Performance Center (October 24) in Boston and the Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline (October 25).

42nd Street Moon presents the American premiere of a full production of THREE SISTERS, with music by Jerome Kern, and book/lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. San Francisco audiences first enjoyed this little-known Kern and Hammerstein musical when 42nd Street Moon's Lost Musical Series presented the American premiere in 1995, in a concert format. With the help of a recent National Endowment for the Arts Grant, the company is now able to mount the first full production ever seen in the United States. Low-priced previews begin November 30, and the show opens on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 6 pm at the Eureka Theatre. It runs through December 18.
