Based on The Ugliest Pilgrim by Doris Betts, this deeply stirring musical by Tony-award winning Jeanine Tesori and the acclaimed Brian Crawley follows a scarred woman on a cross-country pilgrimage to find the true meaning of beauty. Ensemble Theatre to Present ANNAPURNA, 3/22-4/10

Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati ascends an emotional mountain with the regional premiere of the gripping comedy-drama Annapurna by Sharr White. This powerful story unpacks the tangled history between two ferociously damaged people who battle an avalanche of love, loss, and unanswerable questions. The New York premiere of THE LAW OF RETURN, playwright Martin Blank's ('Closing Time,' 'Avenue of the Americas') original spy thriller inspired by events surrounding the Jay Pollard espionage case, is directed by Elise Thoron ('County of Kings') and features Joel Rooks ('Say Goodnight Gracie'), Ben Mehl ('Habit') and Andre Ware ('Halfway There') with preview performances beginning tonight, August 1 prior to an official press opening of August 7 at the 4th Street Theatre (83 East 4th Street, btw. Bowery and Second Ave). THE LAW OF RETURN is presented Off-Broadway by Newsom Zipoy Productions.

The University of Texas Department of Theatre and Dance at Austin presents UTNT (UT New Theatre), February 27 - March 9 at the Lab Theatre. This annual showcase presents new plays from the Master of Fine Arts Playwriting Program.

BWW Review: St. Edward's University's MEASURE FOR MEASURE - A Strong Production of a Problem Play

Early in Measure for Measure, the wise lord Escalus says, "Some rise by sin, and some by virtue fall," a miscarriage of justice that is at the forefront of Shakespeare's infrequently produced comedy. While some of Shakespeare's characters here are sinful while others virtuous and even more are somewhere in between, St. Edward's University current production of Measure for Measure has virtues by the score, and thankfully those virtues make the play rise rather than fall.

59E59 Theaters presents the Prospect Theater Company production of WORKING, from the book by Studs Terkel, adapted by Stephen Schwartz and Nina Faso, with additional contributions by Gordon Greenberg. Songs are by Craig Carnelia, Micki Grant, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mary Rodgers & Susan Birkenhead, Stephen Schwartz, and James Taylor. Directed by Gordon Greenberg, WORKING begins performances today, December 1 for a limited engagement through Sunday, December 30.

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey Extends MAN OF LA MANCHA Through 11/25

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey announced today that its acclaimed, record-breaking production of Man of La Mancha will perform for an additional week-through Sunday, November 25th-at Shakespeare Theatre's Main Stage, the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre, 36 Madison Ave. (at Lancaster Road) in Madison. Tickets for all performances are now on sale and can be purchased by calling the box office at 973-408-5600 or by visiting www.ShakespeareNJ.org. Performances are Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday at 7:30 p.m.; Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. The additional week will include performances on Tuesday evening, Friday evening, Saturday matinee and evening and Sunday matinee and evening. Tickets range from $50 to $80; student rush tickets are available 30 minutes prior to curtain for $10.
