SONY Pictures Entertainment, ABC's The Good Doctor, Netflix's Atypical, and several filmmakers were honored yesterday for their contributions to autism awareness 'From Spectrum to Screen' at the 2nd Annual AutFest International Film Festival (April 28-29), held at the Writers Guild Theater in Beverly Hills, CA. AutFest screened over 16 feature films, short films and television programs that promote autism awareness and/or are made by autistic filmmakers.

Last night, Showtime hosted the premiere of the new limited series PATRICK MELROSE. The screening was held at the Linwood Dunn Theater at the Pickford Center for Motion Picture Study and was followed by an after party at Beauty and Essex. 

The second Annual AutFest International Film Festival, presented by The Autism Society, will take place Saturday, April 28 - Sunday, April 29 at the Writers Guild Theater in Beverly Hills, California. It will screen six feature-length films, seven shorts and two television shows that promote autism awareness and/or are made by filmmakers with autism.

AutFest International Film Festival announced its official program selections for its second annual film festival celebrating autism awareness “From Spectrum to Screen.” Presented by The Autism Society, AutFest will screen over 16 feature films, short films and television programs that promote autism awareness and/or are made by autistic filmmakers. As previously announced, AutFest will also honor Netflix's hit show “Atypical” and ABC's “The Good Doctor” with Spotlight Awards for their special portrayal of lead characters who are on the autistic spectrum. The Visionary Award will be presented to SONY Pictures Entertainment's JEFF FROST, President of Sony Pictures Television Studios, and Co-Presidents of Sony Pictures Television CHRIS PARNELL and JASON CLODFELTER. AutFest takes place Saturday, April 28 – Sunday, April 28, 2018 at the Writers Guild Theater in Beverly Hills, CA.

AutFest International Film Festival celebrates autism awareness with a screening of Power Rangers (2017), followed by a panel discussion, as part of their 2018 lineup. Power Rangers is the first super hero movie to include an autistic lead character, the Blue Power Ranger, as a positive, capable champion of good. Now in its second year, AutFest Film Festival celebrates World Autism Awareness month and is dedicated to promoting films and television programs that spotlight autism awareness and that have the power to enhance the lives of the autistic community.

Hailed as “a masterpiece” (Chris Evangelista, Slash Film) and “a mind-blowing experience” (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone), director Alex Garland's (Ex Machina) ANNIHILATION debuts on Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD May 29, 2018 from Paramount Home Media Distribution. The film arrives on Digital May 22.

Based on the acclaimed Patrick Melrose series of semi-autobiographical novels written by Edward St. Aubyn, the series will premiere on Saturday, May 12 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. PATRICK MELROSE is an acerbic and fearless look at the protagonist's harrowing odyssey from a deeply traumatic childhood to his remarkable survival as an adult. In scheduling PATRICK MELROSE for five consecutive Saturdays, SHOWTIME is expanding to a new night of original programming, joining the network's existing sports and movie offerings on Saturday nights.

In a tour de force role, Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game, Sherlock), who also executive produces the new series, plays the titular character who struggles to overcome the damage inflicted by a horribly abusive father and the mother who tacitly condoned his behavior. Academy Award® nominee Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight) and Screen Actors Guild® winner Hugo Weaving (The Matrix trilogy) also star as Patrick Melrose's parents. Rounding out this accomplished cast are Anna Madeley (The Crown), Blythe Danner (Meet the Fockers), Allison Williams (Get Out), Pip Torrens (The Crown), Jessica Raine (Call the Midwife), Prasanna Puwanarajah (Doctor Foster), Holliday Grainger (THE BORGIAS, Bonnie & Clyde), Indira Varma (Game of Thrones) and Celia Imrie (Bridget Jones's Baby). Rubicon Theatre presents a timely and trenchant production of Shakespeare's tragedy KING LEAR as the centerpiece of the company's 20th Anniversary Season. According to Entertainment Weekly, Alan Cumming has revealed he will guest star on the upcoming season of BBC hit series DOCTOR WHO. The Broadway/TV star will play King James I alongside Jodie Whittaker's Doctor. 

The CW Network will expand its summer programming slate with the acquisition of THE OUTPOST, a 10-hour fantasy-adventure series from Electric Entertainment and Arrowstorm Entertainment, executive producers Dean Devlin ('Stargate,' 'The Librarians'), Jonathan Glassner ('Stargate SG-1') and Jason Faller and Kynan Griffin, who created the series. The CW will announce the U.S. premiere night and time at a later date.

Based on Jeff VanderMeer's best-selling Southern Reach Trilogy, Annihilation stars Natalie Portman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Gina Rodriguez, Tessa Thompson, Tuva Novotny and Oscar Isaac. It was written and directed by Alex Garland (Ex Machina, 28 Days Later).

Production began today on 'Convicting A Murderer', a follow-up to Netflix's sensational 2015 documentary series 'Making A Murderer'. Acclaimed documentary filmmaker Shawn Rech (A MURDER IN THE PARK) will direct the 8-episode series. 'Convicting' is being produced by Rech and his partner, Chicago Attorney Andrew Hale, as part of his Cleveland-based Transition Studios, which secured independent financing and is currently shopping the series.

The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) has announced that Alan Cumming and Zach Braff will be the honorees for the sixth annual SCAD aTVfest.

The last time film director Rob Reiner (When Harry Met Sally, This is Spinal Tap, A Few Good Men, Stand by Me) tackled the topic of the Presidency, it was fiction and a comedy (The American President). Now Reiner brings us a new insightful biography of Lyndon Baines Johnson, the 36th President of the United States. Woody Harrelson stars in LBJ, which plays at Jaffrey's River Street Theatre, Thursday through Sunday, December 28 to 31.

Variety has reported that the new Sony film WHITE BOY RICK is being released eight months back from original release. It was slated for January 26, but is now pushed until August 17. Read the full Variety article here!
