Theatre Under The Stars announces the winners of the 17th Annual Tommy Tune Awards!

Welcome to Theatre Under The Stars 50th Anniversary Season Gala, an incredible and intimate celebration this past Saturday, March 23rd with Broadway star Idina Menzel and more than 600 TUTS family and friends. Many guests said it was the "best gala" they had ever attended. The gorgeous event designed by Taylor DeMartino of Blooming Gallery not only turned The Post Oak Hotel grand ballroom into a supper club "under the stars" that night, but guests experienced the magic of live musical theatre while supporting a great cause. A private meet and greet with Menzel was given to top sponsors along with gifts donated by David Peck. This historic event raised more funds than any other Gala in TUTS history - $1.37 million for "Houston's Home for Musical Theatre".

High school students, teachers and parents across Houston are celebrating and filled with anticipation as the nominations for the 16th Annual Tommy Tune Awards have just been announced on facebook.com/tommytuneawards. Emmy-winner and native Houstonian, Jim Parsons announced the nominees for Best Musical via video on the Tommy Tune Awards Facebook page. Parsons, who started his career on the stage in Houston, will star in The Boys in the Band on Broadway next month.

Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) is excited to announce the nominations and host for TUTS' 15th annual Tommy Tune Awards, which will be held on April 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts.

Theatre Under The Stars' Humphreys School of Musical Theatre (HSMT) will present FREE performances of Hairspray at Miller Outdoor Theatre with a cast that is sure to be a big and bold hit! Winner of 8 Tony Awards including Best Musical, the family-friendly show will dance onto the stage in a memorable theatrical experience today, June 10, through June 12 at 11:00 a.m. and June 12 - 13 at 8:15 p.m.

Thirty-nine students from the Humphreys School of Musical Theatre have been bestowed with the honor and invited to participate in the 2015 Junior Theater Festival (JTF) held in Atlanta, Georgia on January 16, 17, and 18. Created by New York's iTheatrics and produced by the Junior Theatre group, this nationwide event is dedicated to celebrating young people and musical theatre.
