Summer might mean break time for students or those planning vacations, but the warm weather just means lots of hot selection on Connecticut theater stages, especially during July.

TheaterWork's production of the musical "Next to Normal" led the nominations for the 27th annual Connecticut Critics Circle Awards event to be held Monday, June 26 at 7:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart University's Edgerton Center for the Performing Arts in Fairfield.

'People will say we're in love' with this wild western cast of Rodgers and Hammerstein's beloved Oklahoma! Having directed last summer's hit Bye Bye Birdie Jenn Thompson returns to The Goodspeed to take on the show that changed American musicals forever. For the first time at Goodspeed, this country classic will welcome city slickers, cowboys and everyone in between! So kick up your boots and join us for this lively and legendary musical which runs July 14-September 23 at The Goodspeed in East Haddam, Conn [Official Press Opening will be August 2, 2017].

For a children's story, The Secret Garden evokes the kind of emotions that could make grown men sob. At least, that's what me and my fiance did for a majority of Denver Center Theatre Company's current production.  

The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis is proud to announce the full lineup for its 51st Mainstage season.

The Secret Garden has book & lyrics by Marsha Norman, music by Lucy Simon, and is based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. The production runs now through May 28, 2017 at the Stage Theatre at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. The DCPA Theatre Company announced today that due to popular demand, they have added an additional performance of The Secret Garden on Sunday, May 28 at 6:30 p.m. The performance will benefit the DCPA's student matinee program.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater announces nine productions of the 2017/18 Season-which will engage audiences with timeless stories in transformational settings. Two-time Tony Award-winning Goodspeed Musicals has assembled six exciting teams - three led by prominent women directors - to helm the diverse productions planned this season: a tap-happy musical comedy, a beloved classic, a completely reinvented musical from some of the finest creative minds in musical theatre, two bold new musicals, and a holiday show for all ages.

TACT has announced that Aisha De Haas (Rent, Caroline or Change), Peter Gregus (Jersey Boys), Capathia Jenkins (Newsies, Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me, Caroline or Change), Liz Larsen (Beautiful, Hairspray, The Most Happy Fella), Judy McLane (Mamma Mia!, Chess, Aspects of Love) and Billy Stritch (Liza's at the Palace, 42nd Street, Sondheim: A Celebration at Carnegie Hall) will star along with newcomers Patrick Dunn, Kelly McIntyre and Zoe Kassay, in an evening of song to benefit the company, supporting TACT's mission and programming.

The winners of the First Annual Berkshire Theatre Awards have been announced. Seventeen arts journalists voted on 120 nominees in 25 categories chosen from artists in the 75 live theatre productions mounted in Berkshire County and adjacent areas between October 1, 2015 and September 30, 2016.

Hawkins, Associate Artistic Director) today began rehearsals for the cast for a rare NY revival of Oliver Goldsmith's She Stoops To Conquer, which will kick off the theatre's 2016 - '17 season.    

In the last twelve months, more than 300,000 people attended a live theatre production in or around Berkshire County. With 75 stage productions employing hundreds of professionals, making theatre is an important cog in the area's cultural economy. In fact, many consider the region a hot spot for Broadway bound shows, and a popular summer destination for theatre-goers from around the nation.
